For those that wish that they had won, I have another great giveaway coming up in again with Tommie Copper! We are currently ironing out the details for another review and giveaway in a month or so! We love Tommie Copper and they know we do! Yay!
Tommie Copper has once again honored me with the chance to review some more of their products on my blog.
Lets start off with a little history first, shall we? 🙂
Just like me, the inventor of Tommie Copper (Tommie Kallish) tried all sorts of support wear for his arthritis only to find that the products were bulky and uncomfortable to wear. Mr. Kallish then proceeded to try all sorts of fabrics out for himself until he found the one that worked best for him and his arthritis, the rest is history… Tommie Copper was born in 2010.
And just like any great company Tommie Copper keeps expanding and perfecting their line. The logo has recently changed, but the product is still as fantastic as ever, and I see some new and improved innovations in the new items offered. They now have “Innergywear”, their newest development in their compression line and an Active Fit Exercise Apparel line. Both of these have some amazing features, all of which you can look at on their page HERE.
Our Pain History:
Both my husband and I suffer from Fibromyalgia and Arthritis as well as Sciatica, including pain in hips and lower back. My husband injured his back about 7 years ago and became disabled. I have been disabled for many years with bad discs in my neck and back, as well as Lupus SLE. So we are quite the pair… together we may make one whole healthy person. lol Any-who these are the things that we are trying to address with Tommie Copper.
Experiencing Tommie Copper For Ourselves:
Several Months ago we received products to try out, yes this time hubby was included! Hubby was excited to receive his own Tommie Copper to try out and yet he had his doubts. My husband, like many of us, needs to experience the results for himself. Here was his chance, hubby received the Tommie Copper Men’s Short Sleeved Crew Neck Shirt and the Men’s Shorts to test out. I picked these for him, knowing how these could easily be worn year round, the material and the compression make these items easy to put underneath clothing when it gets chillier outside.
I already knew how wonderful Tommie Copper is. I have been wearing Tommie Copper since shortly after the company started in 2010. I already had the Women’s Short Sleeved V-Neck Top (from my first review) and the Women’s Tights (from my second review). The products I received for this review where, for my ankles and my hands and wrists. I received the Women’s Half Finger Gloves and the Women’s Ankle Sleeve. By the way the past reviews can be found in a search on my blog for Tommie Copper.
Having Experience Tommie Copper Before, I still check to make sure the compression wear is as great as ever. In the past I know that the stitching is perfect. The hems on the sleeves, neckline and bottom of the shirts and the tights are perfect too. They don’t cut corners, at least not in the past. As I wait for the items to come in the mail, I want to make sure that I check everything out as soon as the items arrive so that I can tell you how their products are today.
Important Note on Sizing your Tommie Copper:
It is worth while to take out the measuring tape to make sure you get the correct fit. If you don’t have a measuring tape, use a piece of string or yarn to measure with. Place the string or yarn around the area as instructed to measure and keep your fingers in place where the string or yarn meet. Then grab a ruler, yard stick (whatever you have to measure with) and line up your yarn or string and you should have your measurements.
Experiencing Tommie Copper for the first time (my husband):
The Mail Man came with my husband’s Tommie Copper, my husband brought in the bag containing his products and all he could say was, “this can’t be it, the package is far too light!” lol I had to laugh, as I recalled that this was my exact statement when I received my shirt from them years ago.
The package was opened and the shirt he was wearing instantly got thrown aside, as he tried on and modeled his new shirt for me. Mighty handsome shirt, he was amazed at how soft and lightweight the fabric was and how comfortable the compression in the shirt is. And of course the fit was perfect… *I type this as a pat myself on the back*. The shipment also included the shorts and he tried them on a little later.
I examined the men’s shorts, these shorts are a lot like bicycle shorts, the stitching is still perfect on them and the stretch at these hems and seams are great too… doesn’t feel like their will be any pinching on any areas with the items. Nice to see that Tommie Copper hasn’t cut any corners in the 4 years they’ve been in business, everything looks fantastic.
As time went on, I noticed that my husband is wearing his Tommie Copper shorts a lot, the shorts have become his favorite item for sleeping in. I asked him what he thought after several months of wear and he commented that the shorts really help him sleep as they help with the hip pain (he has an injured back and it has resulted in sciatic nerve pain and pain in the hips). He also wears the shirt, but not as often, he wears it when his shoulder (he broke it about 2 years back) is acting up and it helps his shoulders too.
Hubby is now sold on Tommie Copper for his arthritis pain, his injured shoulder, his back and hip pain. I am so glad to see he is having a great experience with Tommie Copper just as I have in the past.
My Experiencing Tommie Copper Again:
My turn now, I received my packages in the mail a day or so later and I was tickled pink to receive not just one ankle sleeve but 2 and a special order of one in blue. Their line has been updated since our products had arrived, they now have new colors and a new logo on their ankle sleeves. The timing of my receiving the offer to review Tommie Copper was perfect as I had had my ankles acting up for just over a month at that time.
As soon as I received my Tommie Copper, I put on the ankle sleeves right away and realized that it was indeed helping my ankles, but something was still wrong on one foot. I thought I would tough it out and wait to see if this would help…I finally saw a specialist and the problem wasn’t Tommie Copper, it was that I was aiming the compression wear at the ankle and my problem apparently (on the right foot) was from the Achilles Tendon. At that point and time I learned that the compression wear for the ankle wasn’t going to help the Achilles Tendon as the Foot Specialist said I needed full compression there… Tommie Copper didn’t hurt the Achilles Tendon, I did a while back as I heard a strange pop sound as I stood up on my tip toes to get something off a shelf. Because the compression wasn’t were I thought I needed it, it wasn’t helping much either.
Lesson learned, there is such a thing as heel pain that feels like it’s in the ankle but if the pain goes up the back of your lower leg, it could be Achilles Tendon problem. If this is the case it would be best go with Tommie Copper Compression socks for heel pain.
Now I did need the other compression Ankle Sleeve, I was over compensating with the other leg and foot for the injured one and that ankle was getting mighty “Angry” as I was told. So my Ankle Sleeve was indeed helping and it also helped that ankle as I wore the cotton-pickin Walking Boot on the other leg. The Ankle sleeve stabilized the other ankle that was now compensating for the walking boot being taller than any of my comfortable shoes. I could have worn a heel on my other foot, but what if I sprained that ankle? lol Yup, I could see it now! Yikes!
My half finger gloves have been a God send, my hands and wrists act up easily and I’ve had to wear my wrist braces on my wrists many times over the years. The strain of typing takes it’s toll over time as does all the work we’ve been doing on the garage replacing siding etc. I worked and helped out hubby as we hauled Hardie Board, cut and put up the new siding together… I realized my hands didn’t want to grip anymore and so I excused myself and ran in getting my Tommie Copper Gloves.
The rubberized lines on the palm of the gloves helped me grip when my hands felt like otherwise giving up. And once again, hands acting up I slipped on my gloves to work with caulking and painting the garage, the gloves have continued to helped support my hands and wrists. And the garage is not an easy task, it has a man-cave on one side and storage area on the other… it’s about as big as our house, without Tommie Copper and a bit of rest between doing work on the siding of the garage, Tommie Copper has once again come to my rescue and saved me a lot of pain.
Would I recommend Tommie Copper?
Yes! I am so pleased to see the latest expansion and additions to the Tommie Copper Line and can’t wait to see what comes next. They now have Sun Protection with zinc on some of their products too, the wicking action of their products make them all so easy to wear in the hot sun. I love the fact that their items can easily be worn under anything, I even wore the gloves under plastic gloves while painting.
The Gloves from Tommie Copper have more than helped me realized that although these products are great for pain, they are also great for preventing pain too… I would recommend this for anyone who is getting older, folks who are doing some manual labor that they aren’t (or are) used to, for me it prevented further injury and decreased pain. This is the same with our Tommie Copper Shirts, my tights and hubbys shorts from Tommie Copper… we’ve found it helps with nerve pain from sciatica, fibromyalgia, bad or injured spine and my lupus sle (a painful illness).
I would recommend this to Construction workers too! Check out the gloves if your hands cramp up or get painful, wrists as well! Not that I am a Construction Worker, but with my experiences as we continue to fix up our large Garage/Man-Cave/Storage Room exterior, I have see how much they can help prevent pain and I suspect prevent injury as well.
Tommie Copper continues to put out a wonderful product still today, they haven’t cut any corners on the products since the beginning. All seams, hems are wonderful, the stitches are great without gaps or bad tension. The stretch is still wonderful, the material is still lightweight, soft (softer than most t-shirts) and attractive as ever. No pinching or binding on any of the items we tried for this review.
In the end, Tommie Copper is perfect for me and my husband too. Thank you Tommie Copper!
I thank Tommie Copper for their patience with me as I got to their review, things have been nuts here (more so than usual) and I am so thankful to have their products supporting my body, hands and feet with their soft comfortable compression as it embraces my body.
Now folks, it’s time to enter the giveaway, please make sure that your mandatory entry is placed in the comments below, so that I don’t have to disqualify you. Thank you for being my loyal readers!

Hello all, I was recently asked, by the lovely people at Tommie Copper, if I would review their latest release of the Women’s Compression Tights and of course I was not only honored to have the invite, but I was also very excited! I have had lower back pain all my life. The lower back pain along with the Fibromyalgia and the nerve damage to my lower back and hip pain, from an accident I was in about 11 years ago, it’s been virtually impossible to sleep, unless I pass out from total exhaustion! Some of you may have seen the commercials for Tommie Copper with Montel Williams, he too suffers from pain and he recommends Tommie Copper. The commercials with Montel Williams were my first exposure to the product and had me very interested in trying them out for myself as I did about a year and a half ago. The latest big name associated with Tommie Copper is Justin Gatlin as this Gold Medalist was on the tv show “Extra” handing out Tommie Copper products to fans… you can see the clip if you go to YouTube and look up Tommie Copper. I tried to load the clip here but it would first load to the correct clip and then change to the Happy Holidays YouTube (that is below) from Tommie Copper. *shrug* You may recall that in June of last year, I was fortunate enough to be invited to review the Tommie Copper Women’s Short Sleeved Shirt, and I loved it, it helped with my pain from a bad shoulder, another accident, many years back, messed it up and of course again the fibromyalgia and Lupus Pain the shirt helped a lot and continues to do so today. The shirt kept me from the doctor’s office for a steroid shot in my shoulder for some time now.
I’ve received letters about my past review with some questions:
The readers have asked me what I still think and feel about the product and about its longevity… the shirt is still working well, I even had to add a tan shirt to my Tommie Copper Collection in the past year. I noticed that the tan shirt is no longer being sold, I suspect that I know why… the only problem I noticed with the tan shirt is that a patina has developed on the underarms… not where you want a pretty copper patina. Lol This Patina is not problematic as I do not wear the shirt alone, I wear it under my clothing, even in the summer. Yes in the summer I continue to feel cool and dry, even with the Tommie Copper on… it does indeed wick away the dampness, even in a home without Air Conditioning or a Swamp Cooler and dealing with well over 100 degree Fahrenheit temperatures as we experienced this past summer with record-breaking temps.
Receiving and looking at the Tights:
I received the Ladies Compression Tights in the mail, the material looks the same as on the shirts, the stitching is perfect and it has the Tommie Copper Logo on the hip. The tights, in my humble opinion, are more like leggings as they continue down to the ankle and do not have feet on them.
Trying on the Tights:
I have to admit I was a little worried about the compression as just touching the hips, as of late, wearing jeans that fit brings on pain. I found that the sizing and compression was perfectly matched to my problems as it didn’t irritate the area. The only irritation I got was while I slide the waist band, and not stretching it over my hips, once the waist band was up where it is supposed to be, I am fine. I found it quite easy to get into, no struggling and straining my shoulders to get into them. I have nerve damage (sciatica) in my lower back and hip nerve pain from an accident, the Tommie Copper Compression Tights helped , nothing really takes the pain away completely (just as it is with anything for pain, like medications) but it helps me.
Wearing the Tights:
The material is such that I can easily wear a pair of pants over them and no one is all the wiser, there is no bulk to them at all, it’s like a second skin. Looking in the mirror, I don’t see why I cannot wear this with a big shirt for working out or walking around the house and still being presentable to the public if a knock came at my door. I could even see wearing these with a short dress that is in my closet, that is a little too short to wear without something over my legs. While wearing the Tights I found that it took a few days wearing them to start seeing relief. I even sleep in these tights, and I must say that I tend to sweat at night, with my hubby and 2 little dogs in bed keeping me very warm, and I have noticed that I don’t feel the moisture as it wicks it off just like the shirts do. I have slept better at night when I wear these and I now live in these tights, taking them off just to wash and dry them. I hope to add another pair and maybe a pair of their shorts to my wardrobe soon. I have not found anything as supportive for my Fibromyalgia pain as Tommie Copper has been and it even took down my nerve pain some. I still cannot sleep on my sides for very long, as I prefer to sleep, but if I turn onto my sides at night I have a longer time before I wake up in pain going down my legs, hey every little bit helps when you are living with chronic pain.
Recommendations for Washing:
Avoid using dryer sheets or fabric softener with your Tommie Copper, this gets in the way of the copper and this is part of the key to the product working so wonderfully.
Would I recommend Tommie Copper Tights to people?
Yes I sure would, the product helps with pain, even eased up my nerve pain some. People that experience nerve pain know that this is a very difficult pain to get an ounce of help with. I found the products from Tommie Copper are great quality and the fact that they last such a long time is a big plus (again I have one of their shirts and it is still holding up well). Tommie Copper have taken the light tan-colored products off their site, a sign that they noticed a problem arising and listened to their customers…I have a feeling that it was the patina (the copper turned green is a patina) from the copper that showed in those light colored fabrics that caused them to get rid of that color in the fabric. Hey the patina on the older shirt of mine does prove that they have somehow managed to get the copper into their fabulous products! Lol If you experience pain, from straining, sprains, Fibromyalgia and/or are a “spoonie” like me, I highly recommend Tommie Copper, get one product to try it out and I bet you will be back to pick up more. Nothing has left me with the Compression I needed for my pain, the copper content and yet being able to move well at the same time as Tommie Copper has.

I feel so lucky to have had the opportunity work on review of Tommie Copper Compression Wear. I picked the compression shirt to help support my shoulders, I’ve been having a serious flare with the bursitis with the additional pain of Fibromyalgia in my shoulder.
I had noticed Tommie Copper on the Television with their Commercial with Montel Williams as their spokes person, with his MS it states that really has helped him with his pain. Well, I admit it, I thought the products sounded too good to be true. Yet I was intrigued and so happy when I along with my friend at Joan (who I worked with on my old blog Joan and Mariah’s Reviews) were invited to try out the Tommie Copper compression T-shirt in June 2011. Joan was fortunate enough to try many of their products and I received a choice of one product to try. Joan mentioned to the representative that I too have Chronic Pain issues, and so they were generous enough to throw in one shipment of a product for me to try too. I was tickled pink at the generosity at Tommie Copper for letting me participate in the review that was initially for Joan alone.
Tommie Copper was the brain child of a guy named Tommie Kallish, who had developed arthritis and tried many different kinds of support available. He did get some relief, however he did discover that these supports where not only thick but very uncomfortable to wear. So he tried many types of fabrics for support and through time he discovered the one that works best for him and that fabric is now being used in Tommie Copper Compression Wear.
Now we know where the Tommie part of the Company name came from, now how about the word Copper in the name? There is Copper in the compression/support wear. You many notice the Cu29 on their logo (the Cu is the elemental number of Copper and the atomic number for Copper is 29). I know from the past, when we tried copper bracelets at home for hubby and me, that copper is supposed to be a healing metal and at Tommie Copper they figured out an ingenious way of placing Copper in their products weave.
Sizing and Ordering my Product for the Review:
The person I wrote to about the Tommie Copper, helped me find the right size, I am large chested with small waist, this makes me person that is hard to fit, she took me down a size in the compression shirt for my waist and it works perfectly.
Receiving my Tommie Copper:
I received a nice silver toned bag with my Tommie Copper Top in it… I was amazed at how lightweight the mailing bag was.
Wearing the Compression Shirt:
I feel a nice compression with this shirt, I am currently wearing it under my sundress as I type, and it’s helping with my bad shoulder problem. I have a reoccurring case of bursitis in my shoulder, and, of course I recently placed it in a serious flare (be it my Fibromyalgia or my Bursitis) and I have had nothing but problems as I wait for an appointment with my Rheumatologist for steroid shot in my shoulder. This shirt has helped out my shoulder so much that I don’t think I will need the shot after all! 🙂 And I can’t forget to tell you that I have noticed that it does also help with some of the pain in my lower back and behind my shoulder blades.
Time for a little female secret while wearing this shirt, shhhhh…
Gals, does your chest get uncomfortable when it is close to that time of the month? Well with this shirt, it has a lovely V neck, and is stretchy enough that you can just take that neckline and move it over your chest and under your bra, so that you’re not wearing it over your chest at all. It didn’t stretch mine out and made it more comfortable for me during that “just before” time of the month. 🙂 Hey and it helps lift those “girls” up just a little too, hey I may be big chested but it does make you look slimmer that way too. Lol
Washing Tommie Copper:
Try to remember not use your fabric softener when washing your Tommie Copper items as the softening, in the fabric softeners, does not allow the Copper to properly work with your body, it sort of muffles the results you’d get. I one day washed mine in with other clothing and didn’t think about it, the compression still helped some but not as much as when I remembered not to use the fabric softener with it. Now I wash it, make a mental note to myself not to use fabric softener, and I remove the items from the washing machine and air dry them (using drier sheets for the remaining laundry in the dryer).
I love my shirt, it’s a soft fabric in a v-neck and lightweight enough that it isn’t hard to wear in the high temps outside today, note with the new house I don’t have AC so it’s very hot as we break records today, this holds in a little bit of the body heat, but that is a healing factor that I learned about while I was a dancer. And as I’ve done research on help for my Fibromyalgia, Lupus SLE I’ve read many reports on copper and the healing properties, as well as compression etc… many compression wear was too constraining to wear for any period of time, not with this shirt, I love the comfort, soft compression and not irritating fabric. The Tommie Copper Compression Shirt seems to breath with me, and let my skin still breath. And I love the sylish V-neck! I also love the non-slip band around the top so it doesn’t roll down and drive me nuts. A lot of thought went into these compression devices!
Added Note 2012: A year after writing this review on the old blog, I received their new compression Tights for women and reviewed them, you can see the review here.
