Mr.Peanut Bully Sticks yummy dog treatTiny Dog Bully Sticks yummy dog treatMy Dogs may not be camera shy, but they don’t think you would understand their voices, like I do. It’s actually quite sad that I have to try and draw out of the dogs a previous action to show you on video or in pictures. They act cute when they think that only their Mommy or Daddy are watching, then we have to reproduce what the dogs have just done from time to time, so we can show you. This time around it is no different, except for while eating the Bully Sticks.

Mariah dogs bully sticks package and sticksTiny Dog wasn’t his usual nervous hyperactive self and just kept chewing away, not distracted by the flash of the camera and he loves chasing after the flash of the camera, the anti red eye light etc.

Now Mr. Peanut, I’ve never taken a treat away from him (well the occasional mouse caucus while we lived in apartments years ago…Yikes!) but he was upset that I was looking at him through the camera lens and kept trying to hide his treat from me. Must be pretty good if my dog, who is almost 13 years old, decides to suddenly hide his treat from me, like I was going to take it away. He must love the treat!

I went to move the package of Bully Sticks off from my husband’s TV tray and Tiny Dog decided that it was time for another treat! So cute how he begged and made noises for his treats… a good sign! I admit I had to recreate the begging for my camcorder, but after a short beg for the video, Tiny Dog decided at that time to be respectful and just come to my side to beg, away from the bag of treats. Lol

After my dogs had several Bully Sticks, I didn’t notice any diarrhea, as some of you may know Dachshunds have sensitive tummies and raw hides, for my long haired Dachshund, always caused him to get the runs. Not a problem with the Bully Sticks!  And Tiny Dog, had no problems with the Bully Sticks either.

I’ve Got Big Balls! Ice Ball Mold – Review

Ice Ball Mold Review

Howdy folks, today I wish to introduce you to an Ice Ball Mold, by StyloPhora. I received a package containing 3 of these unique ice molds. The molds are nice and cushy to the squeeze, seeming a little thinner on the very top. The molds have a line on them, so that you know where to stop filling them. And the package included a funnel and instructions.

My husband couldn’t wait to try them out and freeze some ice for us. Looking at the molds in the freezer, the ice went just up to the hole in the top when frozen, perfect! I used one of the ice balls on a flavored drink and one on Two Fingers of Whiskey for my husband.

Ice ball molds and supplies and frozen

Goodness Gracious Great Balls of ICE!

The ice seemed to melt more slowly than normal ice cubes and so it didn’t water down the drinks as fast, however the ice balls made the drinks cold quite quickly. Do I have to say it? Okay I will, the ice balls look so very cool! Not to mention that the Ice Ball Molds by StyloPhora are Giant! They appear to be about 2 1/2 inches big with my measuring tape. I've got Big Ice Balls

.Coffee Ice ball in glass of milk

Next I decided that I needed to make iced coffee. After I made coffee, I cooled it down quickly. I put the coffee into a glass measuring cup and put the measuring cup into a bowl of ice. Then once it had cooled nicely, I added it to the ice balls. Its not that the ice balls wouldn’t take hot coffee, but that I don’t want to put anything hot in the freezer and I was in a hurry to try this (other wise the refrigerator or let sit to cool would have worked). I decided it would be a great idea to take this coffee ice ball and place it in milk. YUMMY! 🙂 Just make sure the milk isn’t expired, lol, the one I did the first time was and I was shocked! Lol

I took one of the frozen ice balls and put it in the dogs water dish, I heard that they love to play with them in there. I filmed it after I chased the youngest of my dogs down 3 times as he stole the ice ball out of his water dish and brought it out onto the rug in the living room, dropped in on the wood floor rolling it around trying to get it into his kennel and once he picked it up and putting it on my husband’s recliner hoping to just lick it there. Lol Silly dog took advantage of the fact that my husband got up to assist me, placing the Ice Ball back in the dogs dish, so that I could film him playing with it. Lol

Leave it to the younger of our two dogs to cause a lot of laughter as he discovers a new “toy” to play with.

What is the secret to creating a perfectly clear ball of ice? When you order the Ice Ball Mold, you will receive a secret code so that you can learn how in a video. 🙂 I am currently writing this as I freeze a perfect Ice Ball without those air-bubbles that cloud up the ice. We will see if I managed to do it right? Well not 100%, I didn’t have one of the things used in the trick so I substituted another and I have to say to follow their instructions on this secret EXACTLY! I ended up with an oblong Ice Ball and most of the ice was clear, and we usually have that particular item around the house but we just used it up very recently. lol

Polishing It Up With Nail Cones – Review

Hi friends, I was fascinated by the concept of Nail Cones and their helping to protect your skin from nail polish. I was fortunate enough to be chosen out of the applicants on Tomoson to review this new and innovative product.

As a former Cosmetologist, I am so very picky about my fingernails when I polish my nails, and I spend a lot of time with my dominate hands, fingernails removing the sloppy polish that have gotten onto the skin from my non dominate hands application.

nail cones in packageMy Sample Pack of 12 Nail Cones arrived in an envelope, and my first impression? I thought that the design on these nail cones needs to be placed on some full finger Nail Art Stickers or Water Slide Appliques! The design is simply beautiful and a shame that they are on products that you use and dispose of. Next impression, my reviews are typically full sized product and not samples, I was sad to learn that my review writing and using the product was not worth a full size product.

Next I examined the Nail Cones and shrugged, the inside of the nail cones are cut out round, not the oval shape that I expected to actually cover all of the area around the outer edges of the nail.

Well here we go… time to try them out.

nail cones back of packageThe instructions for use on these Nail Cones were very simple to follow. This is how I used the product:

I Washed my hands, first using my usual soap, then I realized that the stickers weren’t adhering well as my usual soap has a moisturizer in it.

Next I Washed my hands with a non moisturizing soap. This helps to make sure that the oils (or moisturizers) on your fingers won’t interrupt the adhesion of the stickers both from handling the stickers to apply them and from interrupting the adhesion of the stickers.

Applying the stickers, for me, were quite difficult as I had to find the ones that fit the nails. Luckily my sample had 12 nail stickers (3 sizes), though I do wish that they had more, since all I used were the medium and large stickers (this is why I usually don’t review samples of products, I don’t get to test the product thoroughly enough).  So having only 8 stickers from the pack that I could use was was a sad prospect. Note the packages that you buy from Nail Cones have 60 stickers in them.

I wasted more nail cones as I struggled to get them right… my nail beds are elongated compared to the Nail Cones which has only a round cut out, leaving a gap around the nails exposing skin. Now I am down to 6 nail cones to use on my fingernails. I tried bending these little beauties to get them to cover all of the skin around my nails, not a good idea fussing for 30 minutes trying and trying to no avail and the stickers were not adhering as well.

So I gave up and finally just did the remainder of my nail cones on the few nails that I could, the result was the polish did go into the round gap between the nail cones and my nails. The product is almost perfect, I do think it could be in a slightly more oval cut out for the insides of these stickers.

My Nail after using nail conesI did have some clean up to do, both from over handling my samples of the product and from the rounded gap in the sticker that I couldn’t straighten out to form up to my nail bed.

french tip with the round removable area of Nail ConesI did use the middles, cut out areas, to help me form a nice french tip to my nails. So I found a use for those little leftover insides of the forms. You need to use them on dry nails and take that center placing it on clothing or skin and peeling off several times to reduce the adhesion. Once the adhesion is reduced some, you stick it on the nail, covering the area you don’t want to get your french tip on and there you go… paint away! 🙂 It works well. 🙂

All in all, the Nail Cones will prevent a lot of cleanup around your nails, you may have a little rounded gap around the nail edge, as I did. And if you have acrylic nails that you polish, because of the thicker bead that is placed midway at the applied nail tips, you may not have a gap at all. Is it worth it? At $5.99 that is almost $1 a sticker, you decide. For me, it’s a give or take on the product, the application was easy with practice and learning not to be so picky, and the small rounded gap was easy to clean up later… however once I have set up to clean up the edges of my nails, I may as well clean up more than I have to with the Nail Cones.

Thank you Nail Cones for giving me the opportunity to review your product, I think it’s on it’s way to being a perfect product. My recommendation is to elongate the cut out area of the forms, to more of an oval shape, not round and you may have the perfect solution to avoiding any clean up with the nail cones.

National Corset Day – Corset Review

Hi all, Happy National Corset Day! I was fortunate and received an invite for a Corset Review. Here is the lovely black under the bust Corset that I am reviewing today.

I cannot model this beauty as unfortunately. Although I measured for it and observed the size suggestions on this beauty, it came too small. I ordered according to my size and measurements, but the measurements and size chart appear to be off. And here I thought that the sizing, being XL sounded too big, since in ladies tops I wear a medium or if tight around the chest and not stretchy I then wear a large to compensate for my bust.  With this corset I didn’t need to worry about the bust, just the under-bust measurement, waist and for the heck of it I measured the hips, though the Corset doesn’t go to my hips at all, as it rests just above the hip.

Anyway, I promised Tmart and the wonderfully patient people there, that I would run a review for them and so here it is.

Tmarts Black under bust satin corsetCorset Review:

The Corset came packaged in an large envelope and at first I was worried as to how it held up in shipping. Opening it up, the quality of the Corset and the panty that came with it was, to my surprise, even more lovely than the pictures on their website! The Corset held up just fantastic in shipping as the boning was not brittle and there were no breaks of the boning to be found.

Upon examining the product for this Corset Review, I found the stitch-work on this Corset was fantastic and the quality of the satin material is nice and thick. This Corset is perfect for a sweet deal such as the prices are at Tmart. The Corset is beautifully lined. The boning is sewn into the Corset secure. Upon feeling above the boning there are no sharp edges to poke you while wearing this beauty. The front closures of the corset lock nicely, upon inspection.

Marked Waist Area to properly lace up
Before trying to add to the original ribbon with some of mine, I unlaced the corset and marked (with lace) the area that the cinching loop should be on the corset. The area marked is where my waist is in the corset.

I tried to get into the corset and realized that, even after loosening the lacing, the area where you cinch the corset up (would be the waist area, ideally) was too high up. And that the corset, although fully loosened needed to have more ribbon as the corset is too small. Both of these things mean that I had to relace the corset to get the best corsetry size wise (to compensate for the rib cage area) and so I can set the loops (that you pull to tighten the corset) at the proper waist line area.

My Recommendations, with this Corset:

1: For better lacing, that won’t slip when more tightly cinched (the satin ribbon does slip and sites online will even tell you that for serious lacing, you need to get away from the ribbon for lacing). The alternative lacings, to replace the satin ribbon, do tend not to be as pretty as the satin lacing is. So for decorative over-wear and for light corseting, go with this lovely lace… or how about a contrasting lace to go with the outfit underneath. Red satin would be fun, don’t you think?

Using Poly Satin Ribbon scortch cut edge2: If you change your lacing or need to add to it, do a search online and find out how to properly lace up your corset. This is my favorite How To Lace a Corset post (I found this after I realized I was lacing mine wrong). If you decide to go with some additional satin ribbon to lace up your corset, use a match or lighter and scorch the end of the ribbon so that the ribbon doesn’t fray on you.

Mariah realized the corset lacing was wrong
Oops, while re-lacing the corset with extra satin ribbon, I realized I had it all wrong. And to top it off, this is as far as I could get lacing it as my hands and arms are bad.

3: If you don’t have help cinching up the corset, look online for some nice videos that show you how to self cinch the corset. There are some great instructions that you will find online

I love the fact that this Corset has nice flexible boning in it. When I tried it on (without the laces done up correctly), I didn’t notice the boning coming out of any seams (like some not well made corsets may have), nor did the boning poke at me anywhere. The boning is flexible yet strong enough to help hold you beautifully when you cinch the Corset up.

When ordering a Corset through Tmart, I do recommend that you go up a size, if your measurements are on the upper side of the measurement table, as the items are made a bit small. This way you may actually wear this beautiful Corset as a ready to wear item, without changes.

I am so sorry that I cannot model this for you, as it doesn’t fit… and saddened that I cannot currently wear the corset.

Would I recommend Tmarts Corsets?

Yes I would! What I love about many of their offerings is that they could easily go above or under your clothing! The quality of the corset is much better than I expected for a product that is so reasonably priced!

My only disappointment, is a big one for me, but a lesson learned that I can pass on to you… It was just the wrong size, so please listen to my advice as to measuring for the corset, if you are at the upper part of the measurement chart for your sizing, please just go up one size and I bet your corset will arrive ready to wear right out of the mailbox! 🙂

I thank Tmart for being so patient and for intrusting me with the review of their corset.

Whiplash Lash Curler – Review

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

I found the perfect eyelash curler for me, it’s called Whiplash. I am so very ahead of myself here, lets start off with some history and a statement from Crave Naturals, the creators of the Whiplash Eyelash Curler.

Here is the short story from Crave Naturals on how Whiplash came to be:

“The founder and CEO of Crave Naturals was looking for the perfect eyelash curler after using so many poorly made, flimsy, hard to hold lash curlers so she tested several designs before she chose the design for Whiplash.”

My Eyes and Eyelashes: (singing to myself, “snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes…these are a few of my favorite things… “)

I’ve searched high and low for a great eyelash curler, I have hooded eyelids (heavy lids). As a result of my hooded eyes, I have been searching high and low for solutions for hooded eyes (without surgery.) The solution, for me, is anything that would help bring out my lashes so my eyes would pop.

Luckily for me I have fairly long eyelashes, however they don’t curl on their own and the hooded lids hide them to a certain extent…. my eyelids are so hooded that I had a beautiful Asian dentist once, who I admired her lash extensions on her and while we were talking about the outrageous price to have them done, she told me that “OMG, you have Asian Eyes!”

I’ve tried false eyelashes:

The old fashioned false eyelashes are hard to put on and if you have oily lids like I do you cannot depend on them to stay on at all. Nothing like wearing these strip eyelashes and having one side or another lift off the eyelid, how embarrassing and it’s only funny if you were Lucille Ball.

My Mother told me about the do it yourself false lashes that can stay on for up to 3 weeks, her nurse at the hospital had them on and they were beautiful! (Yes, even this old lady still listens to her Mother.) HOWEVER the small groups of eyelash falsies, have a downfall… you can see the adhesive and you can feel it scratching at your eyelids. They are even more difficult to put on than the old fashioned strip false eyelashes and they work best if you do not use mascara with them as it can dislodge them easily with the mascara wand. and washing off your mascara you are most likely removing the lashes, most all eye makeup removers contain oils and this acts as a solvent, removing the adhesive.

I haven’t tried having my lashes done professionally, as I mentioned above, it’s just so very expensive to have done.

After trying the above and ruling out one alternative, I came to one conclusion:

I had to try and find a eyelash curler that worked for me. And hopefully I would find one that I would actually use more often then the pinchers, that I did have.

My Personal Eyelash Curler Story (from years ago… I won’t say how many. Lol):

When I was a teenager I used my eyelash curler one day while getting ready for school and it pinched my eyelid so terrible that I forgot myself and yanked the curler away fast… the results, I pulled out most of my eyelashes on that eyelid. And for quite a while afterward I had to disguise the fact that I was walking around without eyelashes on that lid. I used eyeliner and stopped wearing my contacts for a while, hoping that no one would notice. Luckily for a teenager with low self esteem, no one ever said anything, though I am willing to bet they noticed. As a result of that experience, I have a fear of doing the same thing myself again. I have been searching for a non pinch eyelash curler ever since.

My Search for the Perfect Lash-curler:

Mariahs old eyelash curlers
My past eyelash curlers (1 to 3 from Left to Right). These are going to the eyelash curler graveyard as we speak.

Before I received my eyelash curler from Crave Naturals, I have had 3 seldom used eyelash curlers in my arsenal.

One eyelash curler was the old fashioned flimsy metal lash curlers that still pinched.

The Second lash-curler was a super small lash (width wise) curler that I could use, as long as I was careful, without pinching but took many many repeats across the eyelashes to get the whole row of lashes curled and this little item was still flimsy.

The third lash-curler was a cheap plastic folding eyelash curler, that was compact enough to travel with, but being made cheaply it could break fairly easily and it also pinches the eyelid.

Mariahs Whiplash curler and box
Isn’t this box simply wonderful. I say it’s as wonderful as the curler it self! LOVE IT!

Finally I found the perfect eyelash lash-curler:

When I received the Whiplash Lash Curler I was skeptical since I had searched, for a majority of my life, for the perfect eyelash curler, but I was more than happy to try!

The box with my Eyelash Curler in it is so cute with it’s Graphic Novel or Comic Strip looking Woman on the label, I have even kept the box and will probably display the box on a shelf with the extra rubbers in it. No, no no, not that kind of rubbers, but the kind that are used in the eyelash curler. Speaking of the rubber inserts for the curler, this beautiful eyelash curler comes with 5 extra replacement pads for this beauty! The most I had ever gotten was one with my eyelash curlers, if I got any.

I have to say I was tickled as pink as the rubber pads and handle on this beauty, knowing that it came with 5 additional rubber pads… I do think that I may squeezed too hard on the curler as I had one of the pads actually break (after several very successful uses previous).  Upon changing the rubber on this curler, I discovered that these pretty pink pads feel less cushy than the ones that were on my other lash curlers. Interestingly enough each of these little pads already comes indented in the middle where the metal curler meets up with the pad. Perhaps his indentation along with the fact that the rubber is less pliable than on other curlers was partly the cause of the breakage? I’ve been more careful ever since this happened and I haven’t had another one break on me yet.

The area you insert your fingers into is the most comfortable fit & comfortable to squeeze as compared to all other lash curlers I’ve ever tried.

Their claim that your lashes will last curled up for a long long time, is without a doubt true for me. In the past I’ve had to use my blow dryer or extra extra carefully, us my curling iron to heat up the curler (without the curling iron touching the rubber pad) to get a good curl, with this lash curler I get that extra long lasting curl without the fuss.

And most importantly I can use this curler without worries of pinching my lids, and now I have a curler that I use much more often than any other one I’ve owned.

Before I forget, for those ladies that are new to using an eyelash curler:

the best way to use them is not just once on your lashes. Start at the base of your lashes, hold for a few seconds, then go up further on the lashes and repeat, you will have better results as you then have added a nice curl throughout the lash instead of just at one portion of you lashes. 🙂

OH and hey… This Eyelash Curler is a real beauty don’t you think? What girl couldn’t resist that?

Do you have any interesting stories about using eyelash curlers? If so, please comment below, I always love to hear what you, my beauties, have to say. 🙂
