Beautiful Women’s Clothing That Will Flatter Any Figure! Size 10 and Up

Note: Check out the Sale going on now, through Feb 4th with Kiyonna Clothing (at the bottom of this post), grab the code before clicking on the sale banner to make sure you take advantage of this sale!

Okay folks, I received an invite to take a look at Kiyonna Clothing for an affiliate on my new site and you know me, I like to try before anyone goes up on my recommended shopping affiliates on any of the sites I have blogged on. However because Kiyonna outfits are so very lovely, unique and beautiful looking, I have decided to Affiliate with them.

Since I have not tried any of the Kiyonna Products, there will be a different area for the Affiliates that look great to me… and these Affiliates WILL NOT be moved over to the Recommended Shopping Sites, for the tried and true products that I have either reviewed on my blog, tried myself, enjoyed and have lived up to my standards… or should I say they will remain in the spot until such a time that I have tried their products and they meet my criteria for the other area.

What do I think would benefit our readers with the lines of clothing and accessories from Kiyonna?

I looked at their website and being an avid fan of What Not To Wear, I’ve seen makeovers on many women’s clothing and jewelry styles and one prevailing theme of these makeovers is to show off those curves by either creating or accenting your waistlines, hiding those bulky areas with ruching (especial in the tummy areas) and Peplums on dresses or blouses help to hide your hips. I even found wrap tops and wrap dresses on their site and I think that this style (especially in a dress) is perfectly figure flattering on every woman. I found so many of these key features in the clothing on their website and I realized that I just had to affiliate with them as these outfits can help many of my readers look their best!

Check out this beautiful wrap top, with the sweetheart neckline… Marilyn Monroe would love this top!

Now don’t be frightened by their being a “Plus Sized” Online Clothing Store, keep in mind that designers and in the world of Models anything over a the size of those anorexic looking women is considered a plus size… the outfits sold at Kiyonna start at a size 10 and go up from there.

As my Father would say, “ANY-WHO,” on another date I will share with you the decisions I am trying to make on which outfit (probably a top/shirt) I want to purchase for myself.

For a short time there you may save on their clothing, this ends February 4th, so note the Code and click on the banner below to order now.

Oh and I did check out their return policy and if for any reason you are not 100% Satisfied you can return it within 30 days of purchase!

Aching Feet? Slip off those Heels and into Backup Soles – Review

Backup Soles Logo

Hi there Folks, Joan and I received an invitation to try out Backup Soles the Rollable Portable Flats a while back. We both received two pairs to test and review on our blog. Joan will post her review in a separate post, when she is done with hers.

Mariah’s Review:

backup soles, what Mariah calls their ruby slippers, so very pretty.

Looking at the Backup Soles site, I found myself drooling over the metallic red backup soles. Makes me think of the story “The Red Shoes” by Hans Christian Andersen. How fun it would be to wear such a lovely color on your feet?

I received one pair in black and one in silver, in size Medium (US Women’s Size 7-8), these came in cute little boxes with two little pull-string totes, one for your rolled up Backups to go into and a larger one is made for you to place your shoes/heels in.

Mariah in one silver and one black Backup Soles

With my disabilities, especially with the nerve pain down my legs to my ankles and feet, I am not often in heals. However I do often wear slippers around the house, my favorites being my little leather ballet slippers so I was excited with this alternative to real ballet slippers. My poor old ballet slippers are wearing out after years of wear, so I need to replace them, yet they can be hard to find and expensive to buy. I tried on my Backup Soles and I was pleased that they were as I imagined, a lot like ballet slippers.

The few points about the Backups that are different from ballet slippers, some good some bad.

Instead of the pull string to tie at the front end of the ballet slippers, they have elastic encased around the edges of the slipper. This is good as many times the draw string on my ballet slippers come untied and it never fails one of the strings makes it’s way into the ballet slipper and irritates my foot.

The bow on the top of the Backups is there just for decoration, and it actually looks great as it is made out of the same material as the main body of the slipper. I would love to see them mix and match the bows for a nice contrast, I can see the black Backup Soles with perhaps a silver or gold bow on top, this would give more variety of looks for them to sell.

The outside of these Backups are a thin vinyl like material and the bottom of them are a nicely textured rubbery no slip surface. The material isn’t to weighty so it’s nice and soft and the soles are extra nice for safety, as compared to the slippery soles of suede bottom on ballet slippers.

My one problem with the Backup Soles is the way that the heel is sewn, it’s not sewn like the back seam in a ballet slipper. In a ballet slipper the seam is sewn so that the edges would be outside the slipper, then covered up with a sewn on strip (of the same material) on the outside of the slipper, leaving you no irritation from the seam. So for me the seam on the inside of the slipper is irritating and the elastic encased area of that seam is the big problem for my feet as it pinches into my heel, and leaves a noticeable dent/red area there .

the twisted back seam in backup soles that irritates the heel.

The picture above shows the twisted seam in my backup soles (in this one the bottom of the seam is sewn to the sole on the left and the top is sewn into the elastic encased area to the right).

Also that inside seam is sewn to the sole of the slipper with the raw edges going one way at that seam and going the opposite on the top by the elastic encasing seam, causing an area with a bump as it tries to twist in the slipper again adding to irritation. An Easy solution, though perhaps a bit more time consuming maybe to lay open the seam prior to sewing that area shut, so that there is less bulk in the encasement area. This may not be a problem for most people… I however have nerve pain from a back & hip injury that goes all the way down to my feet, top that off with Fibromyalgia and we have a problem.

Edit my afterthought:

About the irritation on the back of my foot? These slipper like shoes are made for short term wear, not for slippers… so I must add in that at first they were very comfortable, but after about an hour the pain started up in the back heel area. So perhaps, it is that these are made for slipping on your feet for the return or going to the place that you have to wear shoes that can be uncomfortable.

backup soles Large Bag for your heels/shoes to go into

The handy drawstring bags for the Back up soles are great, and the large bag for your heels are nice too. The drawstring can be looped over your purse strap and bring the bag through before placing your shoes in this roomy bag… however the drawstrings are tied and for me the first time I did this it came untied on me. What I would advise is old school clear nail polish placed over the knotted part to help keep it together or to go to a sewing/craft center and look at the notions and pick up 2 pull string stays, the kind I am talking about have a spring in them that will keep the drawstring in place, the drawstring being a soft one you may need a skewer to help aid you on pulling the two sides of the drawstring through and this will get rid of this concern.

Above is a picture of the drawstring stay that I attached to the drawstring that came untied on me.

Mariah’s Conclusion:

[rating:3.5/5]
All in all, I believe that these slippers are a great idea, and would work for short term wear to get you out of those heels. I feel that these were not made for wearing like slippers, all day around the house, since I did find some irritation. However if some attention was played toward the back heel area, I feel these could be improved and comfortable enough to wear as slippers.

Twinkle Twinkle Like A Star With Mont Bleu’s Bling – Review and Giveaway

Singing to myself (to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star)

(a song by Mariah Lockwood, dedicated to Mont Bleu)

“Twinkle Twinkle like a Star, with Mont Bleu, There You Are. Twinkle like the Stars Above, with this Bling you’ll fall in Love!” “Twinkle Twinkle like a Star….”

The Monte Bleu Logo - "Crystalized with Swarovski elements"

One day, as I contemplated my needing to give myself another manicure,  I just happened to think of my lovely Mont Bleu Nail File. I decided to write Mont Bleu to see if they wanted another review and giveaway on the blog and as I went to my email to write them, I discovered that they happened to have been trying to contact me! I was so very thrilled that they too thought of me… talk about being on the same wave length at the same time from way over here in Colorado USA to The Czech Republic, how cool is that?

bubbles czech glass nail file, with Swarovski Bling on it, and I surrounded the picture with some flowers to display the picture. :)
My Glass Nail File in the “Bubbles” Swarovski Crystal Arrangement. This is what I reviewed a year ago and it is still going strong!

Some of you will remember my Mont Bleu Nail File Review and Giveaway from about a year ago. My beautiful glass nail file is holding on strong and still working like a charm for me. Below is a picture of my glass nail file as a reminder of these beauties.

I received a marvelous package in my mail one day, with matching SWAROVSKI® Crystals in them. I received a bobby pin, a ring and earrings. They are so very lovely and once again the wonderful people at Monte Bleu didn’t fail to show their wonderful quality and craftsmanship in their products. I love my jewelry set.

Mont Bleu Blin on me (Mariah). Swarovski Crystal, hairpin, earrings and adjustable ring.

What a FUN Ring!

two red swarovski crystal ring, adjustable to your sizeThe Ring that I received is perfectly adjustable, with 2 SWAROVSKI® Crystals on either end of the metal ring. I would say that the ring size as is was about a size 6 or 6 ½ in US ring sizing (hard to say, since I failed to measure it before adjusting it down a little to fit my size 5 ¼ finger). The size of the ring can be adjusted down or up to your needs. The metal is good and strong so you will have to put a bit of elbow grease into sizing it, but it’s a good sign of the longevity of this Ring.

Getting The Hair All Blinged Out!

hair clip (bobbypin aka hairpin) with 2 red Swarovski CrystalsThe Hairpin or Hair Clip (or Bobby Pin, as we call them here in the US) with 2 SWAROVSKI® Crystals is just breathtaking. I admitted to the representative that I almost cried when I saw their newest offerings of these gorgeous bobby-pins. Why? My Grandmother had once come to visit us along with her she brought a hairpiece that was on a maniquin head, on the hairpiece was a simple little clear crystal bobby pin and the pictures reminded me of something I hadn’t thought about in ages. God rest my sweet Grandmother’s Soul, when I admired her bobby pin she promptly gave it to this wide eyed little girl and I was in heaven! I don’t know whatever happened to this little prize, knowing how careless I was at about 7 years old, I probably lost it as little girls do.

The Bobby-pin is a great way to hold your hair back out of your eyes and to add an accent to any hairstyle on any occasion. I can see this worn for fun with a pair of jeans or to add an adornment to your hair with a fancy dress. You can wear it tucked in a bun, I seem to remember wearing the one my Grandmother gave me in my hair in ballet class. Or as an addition to a lovely French Twist or as a fun addition to the side of your hair, in a pony tail. Do you have shorter hair? Then just find a fun place to put it in your hair, cannot fail. There aren’t any rules friends, just have fun and place it where you want it in your hair and you couldn’t go wrong with this beauty. The only part missing in these Bobby Pins, is that there is not plastic to the very ends of these so be cautious when placing them in the hair so you don’t scratch your scalp.

Bling Up Those Lobes without Irritation!

red swarovski earrings from Mont BleuFinally the Earrings, the SWAROVSKI® Crystals the crystals in these beauties again make it just so very versatile. These are just lovely and smaller in size then the SWAROVSKI® Crystals in the other pieces of jewelry, don’t let the smaller size of these crystals deter you from loving them, they certainly haven’t deter me from loving these! The size is excellent for any age and any occasion, I think that the size of these crystals are just perfect, if they had been as large as on the ring or in the bobby pin I think you take the chance of making it look cheap or limit yourself with wearing these.

The earrings are covered with Hypo-allergenic Rhodium, so no itching and swelling with my sensitive ears and I can get away with wearing these just as long a period of time as I can with gold posts! Yay! The posts are made well, not too long a post in back so that they stab your head behind your ear and they don’t have any sharp edges to irritate either.

In Conclusion:

Swarovski Crystal Bling on Mariah (of HonestlyMariah, com) in Red Bling from Mont Bleu ring earrings and hairpin

Put the Bling Bling of Mont Bleu on your List! I know I’ve placed Mont Bleu on my wish list for Christmas (again this year) as well as started a Christmas Shopping List for my Friends and Family full of Mont Bleu items I just know they’d love. Mont Bleu has once again proven themselves to have the most beautiful, tasteful craftsmanship and great quality as they have had with my previous review of their beautiful Glass Nail File with Swarovski Crystals.

I highly recommend taking a good look around the shopping site for Mont Bleu and I am sure you will fall in love with so very many of their products, just like I continue to do every time I visit.

packages, one necklace and one braclet by Future Oxygen

I am pleased to introduce you all to a great Eco Friendly Company, Future Oxygen, this company makes a line of jewelry, like I’ve never hear of before! I am very excited to have received a necklace and a bracelet from them and they are so cute, I really don’t want to take them to the next step as of yet. What is the next step? They grow into flowers or trees when you no longer want to wear them. How cool is that?future oxygen cross necklace

Here I am going to age myself but, back in the 70’s I used to make hemp necklaces with beads and I used macrame’ to make them decorative as well. This Jewelry brings me back to those days of the Art Fairs that my Parents had us in and selling my necklaces as well as dressing up as Raggedy Ann as I decorated balloons to wonder around and sell too… my parents kept us kids busy at these fairs. I would have loved to have these Eco Friendly beads back then, if only they had these beads back then and if only I could just buy these beads from them as well, for some of my creations today. Alas I diverge, but what fond memories!

All of Future Oxygen products are 100% biodegradable, even their packages. And another great thing is that their sales help children, the information about this can be found on their “Smile Exchange” area on their website.

future oxygen smiley bracelet

These beads are so cute, the bracelet I received is a round smiley face braided hemp and the necklace is a really cool St. James like Cross on it. The Bracelet will grow a White Pine Tree and the Necklace will grow wild flowers! Nice! I have decided to grow the White Pine Tree for up in the Colorado Foothills where my parents can plant it once it’s grown enough by me to transplant.

I found them on YouTube and they have a great video telling you how to plant your Eco Wear.

Right now they are running a Free Shipping deal, for Earth Day (My Birthday BTW) of free shipping for any purchase $20 or over. You can read about that here: http://www.futureoxygen.us/earth-day-specials/

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
