Glide Thru Detangling Brush – Review & Giveaway

Howdy Folks! I have a Glide Thru Detangling Brush all my own and I am going to be giving one away too! Yay!

I was fortunate enough to win a Glide Thru Detangling Brush and Crave Naturals sent me a message in Twitter, asking me for my information on shipping me my prize. I instead asked them if they could hold my prize and if, instead of mailing it out to me, I could give it away on my blog. Crave Naturals being the wonderful company that they are did me one better! They offered to not only let me give one away, but to send me one to review as well… Okay, can I say that I am IN LOVE (once again) with Crave Naturals? Well, I AM! 🙂

Glide Thru Detangling Brush You may recall a recent review in which I mentioned Crave Naturals. They are the makers of my favorite Eyelash Curler, “Whiplash” (you can see my review of their Eyelash Curler HERE). And just like the Whiplash, the Glide Thru is another very wonderful product by Crave Naturals. I have baby fine hair and, as most of my fellow Cosmetologists said, when they cut and/or styled my hair, I have more than 2 full heads of hair on my noggin. lol As I am sure you can imagine, someone just breathing in the same room as me can mess up my hair and it tangles easily. Imagine a head of hair like mine and what a mess I have to deal with every morning upon awaking! Yes horrible.

My hair has always been like this, and I recall crying as a child as my Mother would try to brush through the rats nest (snarls, tangles, whatever you want to call it)… just thinking of it the sounds of the torn out hair, breakage etc rings in my ears. OH, wait a minute, it’s because that sound is still pretty familiar, until about a month ago when I received my own Glide Thru Detangling Brush, no wonder why the thought brought back the sounds like it was yesterday.

My Mother did try that No More Tangles product, and all that did was leave my hair oily and made it get dirty easily. Finally my Mother had my Aunt cut my hair into a Pixie Cut, oh how I cried, “I look like a boy!” My poor Aunt and poor Mom, her arms must have been tired!

Glide Thru Detangling Brush and Box it came in The Glide Thru Detangling Brush has saved my arms, my scalp and my hair from breaking off. The brush is easy to use, it has a nice ergonomic handle, that can be used in both the right and left hand comfortably. I like the way it sits in my right hand best and would love to see the style of the handle set up the opposite way for us lefties, but it is actually very comfortable in the left hand. I just think that just the thumb up on the bristle area of the brush is a slightly more natural and comfortable position, since I am a lefty (for the most part) I find myself holding the brush with all my fingers up at the bristle area and not on the handle when I try to brush with my left hand.

Want to know the easiest way to use this brush on children’s hair? Start brushing near the ends/tips on the hair, brushing downward. Slowly work your way up (perhaps an inch or two at a time), always brushing downward from that next inch or so up on the hair and all the way thru to the ends each time. You will hear less crying while you’re getting rid of those nasty tangles. Lets face it children’s scalps are more sensitive than ours.

  • The Glide Thru Detangling Brush is so great for the hair, it doesn’t have the little nibs that stick out of other plastic bristle brushes that grab at and clench over your hair, causing damage.
  • This Brush is so safe that you can use it on wet or dry hair!
  • It does work very well adding a gloss to your hair, especially when used on wet hair.
  • It is best that you don’t use an “all in one” shampoo and conditioner with this, use it with your rinse out or leave in conditioner (or weekly reconstructive conditioner) as an assist.
  • This brush does work with all hair types, be it thick, thin, damaged, chemically treated or virgin hair (virgin hair is hair that has not had ANY chemical treatments, perm, relaxer, color treatments)…
  • also would work great on hair that is curly, straight or anything in between.

For the Cosmetologists & Stylists out there, this would be a perfect addition to your brushes and combs! <- if you know or have a wonderful hairdresser, this would make a great gift as a tip and a thank you for their wonderful service!

Easy Video Creation with Muvee Reveal – Review

Hi all, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Muvee Reveal 11, a program to make help you make videos. I was fortunate enough to be one of the bloggers chosen for this review and I have to tell you, it made making videos so easy!

This program has everything, I put together a few collages using Gimp (a free photoshop like program) and polished up a few old pictures. I played with Muvee a while and decided to add some old video footage of the dogs.

I can’t help myself sometimes and I just MUST grab the nearest camera and take videos of my dogs… you may say that I am easily entertained, but I do think that they are the cutest dogs in the whole wide world! Lol Just like a proud Mother, huh? I am in the habit of saying that I wish my eyes had a built in camera in them to capture those moments that come and go so quickly.

muvee reveal program pictureLuckily most of us have several means for taking those precious videos and pictures close at hand with technology today. The problem has been getting those great pictures and videos together to form an entertaining video to share with others. Lets face it, with YouTube out there, we’ve all seen some very put together videos and we wouldn’t be entertained by just any video anymore.

I am picky when it comes to putting anything together to post online, and I have, in the past spent days and hours to put together my videos for my blog. The program Muvee Reveal 11 has made my work so much easier for me, and I can say that it is honestly worth the money, because of the ease of use and professional results you get in no time at all.

Muvee has so many features in it that I couldn’t possibly tell you about all of them… I am sure that I haven’t done anything but touch the surface of this programs capabilities. I know that I have yet to play with the voice-over feature and I only cut one old video down on it.

movee reveal picture of some settingsThe features that I have used to make my little movie, that I can recall off the top of my head:

Captions for on your video clips or pictures

Inserting Text before certain pictures

Choosing the Theme

Choosing the Music (either choose from what comes with the program or your own music)

Turning down the Music

Enhancing  the sound on your video clip

Editing one of the 4 little videos in the mix

Sorting my pictures and videos

Playing with the font for Captions, Title etc

Added Graffiti (tons to choose from)

Choosing where to upload my video (I chose youtube of course)

muvee reveal another settingAnd that is just to name a few of the options that I chose, I am currently waiting for my video to upload to youtube as I write this. 🙂 I could save this in HD Format, but that would take hours and with my internet sometimes acting up I decided to go with the lowest resolution so it will take only a few minutes to upload.

And Here it is! Check out my new video:

All I can say about this program is, the more I played with it yesterday the more creative I found I could be in making my video look truly professional and attractive. And the more I play with this the more I discovered about the program. If you get lost playing with Muvee Reveal, they not only have tutorials online, but they have a forum where you can easily search to find answers to your questions and if you don’t find an answer, then just ask your own question in the forum or with their Live Chat too!

I am excited that I have Muvee Reveal, as I have more review projects coming up soon that could use a video. Click here to get your own copy of Muvee Reveal and start making those pictures and or videos stand out from the crowd.

Polishing It Up With Nail Cones – Review

Hi friends, I was fascinated by the concept of Nail Cones and their helping to protect your skin from nail polish. I was fortunate enough to be chosen out of the applicants on Tomoson to review this new and innovative product.

As a former Cosmetologist, I am so very picky about my fingernails when I polish my nails, and I spend a lot of time with my dominate hands, fingernails removing the sloppy polish that have gotten onto the skin from my non dominate hands application.

nail cones in packageMy Sample Pack of 12 Nail Cones arrived in an envelope, and my first impression? I thought that the design on these nail cones needs to be placed on some full finger Nail Art Stickers or Water Slide Appliques! The design is simply beautiful and a shame that they are on products that you use and dispose of. Next impression, my reviews are typically full sized product and not samples, I was sad to learn that my review writing and using the product was not worth a full size product.

Next I examined the Nail Cones and shrugged, the inside of the nail cones are cut out round, not the oval shape that I expected to actually cover all of the area around the outer edges of the nail.

Well here we go… time to try them out.

nail cones back of packageThe instructions for use on these Nail Cones were very simple to follow. This is how I used the product:

I Washed my hands, first using my usual soap, then I realized that the stickers weren’t adhering well as my usual soap has a moisturizer in it.

Next I Washed my hands with a non moisturizing soap. This helps to make sure that the oils (or moisturizers) on your fingers won’t interrupt the adhesion of the stickers both from handling the stickers to apply them and from interrupting the adhesion of the stickers.

Applying the stickers, for me, were quite difficult as I had to find the ones that fit the nails. Luckily my sample had 12 nail stickers (3 sizes), though I do wish that they had more, since all I used were the medium and large stickers (this is why I usually don’t review samples of products, I don’t get to test the product thoroughly enough).  So having only 8 stickers from the pack that I could use was was a sad prospect. Note the packages that you buy from Nail Cones have 60 stickers in them.

I wasted more nail cones as I struggled to get them right… my nail beds are elongated compared to the Nail Cones which has only a round cut out, leaving a gap around the nails exposing skin. Now I am down to 6 nail cones to use on my fingernails. I tried bending these little beauties to get them to cover all of the skin around my nails, not a good idea fussing for 30 minutes trying and trying to no avail and the stickers were not adhering as well.

So I gave up and finally just did the remainder of my nail cones on the few nails that I could, the result was the polish did go into the round gap between the nail cones and my nails. The product is almost perfect, I do think it could be in a slightly more oval cut out for the insides of these stickers.

My Nail after using nail conesI did have some clean up to do, both from over handling my samples of the product and from the rounded gap in the sticker that I couldn’t straighten out to form up to my nail bed.

french tip with the round removable area of Nail ConesI did use the middles, cut out areas, to help me form a nice french tip to my nails. So I found a use for those little leftover insides of the forms. You need to use them on dry nails and take that center placing it on clothing or skin and peeling off several times to reduce the adhesion. Once the adhesion is reduced some, you stick it on the nail, covering the area you don’t want to get your french tip on and there you go… paint away! 🙂 It works well. 🙂

All in all, the Nail Cones will prevent a lot of cleanup around your nails, you may have a little rounded gap around the nail edge, as I did. And if you have acrylic nails that you polish, because of the thicker bead that is placed midway at the applied nail tips, you may not have a gap at all. Is it worth it? At $5.99 that is almost $1 a sticker, you decide. For me, it’s a give or take on the product, the application was easy with practice and learning not to be so picky, and the small rounded gap was easy to clean up later… however once I have set up to clean up the edges of my nails, I may as well clean up more than I have to with the Nail Cones.

Thank you Nail Cones for giving me the opportunity to review your product, I think it’s on it’s way to being a perfect product. My recommendation is to elongate the cut out area of the forms, to more of an oval shape, not round and you may have the perfect solution to avoiding any clean up with the nail cones.

Dead Sea Salt Soap – Review

Oh how I loved testing out the Dead Sea Salt Soap for this review. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I have loved Dead Sea Salt products that I have used in the past, well this product is no different!

The bar of soap arrived to my house from my Amazon order and I opened up the box to see a lovely blue colored bar of soap. The fragrance of the soap is quite refreshing, though a little more fragrance than I usually enjoy in my soap. The texture of the bar of soap is unusual, in that it feels a little bit textured to the touch especially while washing with it, the bar is not shiny like most commercial bar soaps, the look and texture is like a good bar of homemade soap.

dead sea salt soapHere is what Adovia Skin Care says about their Dead Sea Salt Soap:

Item description:
– Infused with 100% Pure Dead Sea Salts from the Dead Sea
– Dead Sea Salt Contains over 21 Minerals Key to Skin Health and Beauty
– Deeply Moisturizing and Hydrating Soap great for Dry and Normal to Dry Skin
– Dead Sea Minerals Essential to Skin Function Contained in the Soap Include Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium, Zinc and More.
– Great Value and Benefits for A Daily Moisturizing Facial Cleanser

My thoughts about the description above and the claims:

dead sea saltDead Sea Salt does contain a lot of minerals and the Dead Sea has been though to have many health and beauty benefits for ages, even Cleopatra loved the benefits of the Dead Sea thousands of years ago. Today we are lucky as products come out with Dead Sea Salts in them so we can experience some of the benefits without traveling to the Dead Sea ourselves. The problem is some of the products that claim to be Dead Sea Salt products don’t contain enough of the Dead Sea Salt to make a difference at all in your skin.  With this Soap, I find that their claims are not only believable but that is has helped to settle down some of my skin problems, yes my recent flare has my rash back on some of my body and my face right now, however the Dead Sea Salt has seemed to settle down the Lupus skin flare up. 🙂

dead sea saltNow I did use the Dead Sea Salt Soap on my face once in the shower and I have to say that it did leave my face squeaky clean to the touch and with a very light moisturized feeling. However my preferred, since my face is so very highly sensitive to fragrance, is to use it on my body. I really loved sudsing up my washcloth with this bar of soap, the resulting suds were small, soft and had a very gentle fragrance. After rinsing, just like on my face, the result was squeaky clean yet lightly moisturized.

Now usually after using anything with Dead Sea Salts in it, I recommend rinsing well and then applying moisturizer… with this soap I recomend rinsing well and the moisturizer is your choice. The Dead Sea Salt Soap is made for Normal to Dry Skin  (and of course skin in between). For me? I rinsed well and the I still did moisturize, most of the time. When I didn’t moisturize my terribly dry skin on my legs showed dry flaking, so just when too worn out to bother moisturizing, I just hid those legs. lol

Thank you to Adovia Skin Care for allowing me to review their Dead Sea Salt Soap, I am so in love! Thank you again!

Derma Roller – Review & Amazon GC Giveaway

Hi friends, I have a really unique review for you, it’s for the Derma Roller… hey and there is a Couple of Amazon Gift Certificates to Giveaway too! Yay! Now I see both pro’s, and to be honest, cons with this product, so take it or leave it my friends.

What is the Derma Roller? It is a tiny little roller that you roll across your clean skin and it is reported to help with Collagen Production as well as Cellulite and more. The Derma Roller is also called a Micro Needle Roller System and also called by some Skin Needling.

skin secret derma roller roller in use on womans faceI received my Derma Roller in great condition from my order on Amazon, I looked at this little device and wondered what I was thinking! I ordered a little device with little rolling needles on it to roll across your clean skin. Now you cannot roll it across skin with Rosacea, Lupus Rash or broken out in any way. I didn’t think about any of the above when I applied for the review, between my rashes on my face, breakouts from being peri-menopausal and then my thinking about the needles, I cannot and will not use the product at this time. I couldn’t even use it for my cellulite as there again I have skin issues.

The great features about the product is that, in concept it should work. The teeny tiny needles will indeed help you develop more collagen and elastin, also help you absorb more of your moisturizers and those products that help with collagen & elastin. As the extremely limited damage (if you don’t go hog wild and over do it) that it does to the skin will indeed cause your body to build more collagen and elastin.

skin secret derma roller roller close upHere is what Skin Secret, the maker of the Derma Roller, has to say about the features of their product:

Product Description

  • STIMULATES COLLAGEN PRODUCTION Collagens have great tensile strength, and provide these body structures with the ability to withstand forces that stretch them. Collagens consist of three polypeptide chains arranged in a triple helix, and are bundled together in fibers. This can be used with collagen creams, collagen lotions, collagen supplements to amplify the collagen production and improve skin quality
HELPS ELIMINATE SCARS INLUDING ACNE SCARS scars will become less vissible over time, including acne scars. This is a good alternative to invasive laser surgery. This product works with othe acne treatments by allowing product to penetrate skin
REDUCES APPEARANCE OF FINE LINES AND WRINKLES this will help eliminate bags under the eye, skin discoloarion, large pores. The skin will appear firmer. Works well with skin lotions, skin creams and skin serums like ascorbic acid vitamin e hyalurunic acid.
REDUCES CELLULITE AND STRETCH MARKS. Reduces the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite. This is without liposouction or other invasive procedures.

My problem with the product is that I know, from my husband owning a tattoo business years ago, that any kind of a needle should be autoclave sterilization in between uses. Okay with that bit of information out of the way (I hate to post a review of a product that I won’t use), I want to tell you that you really MUST keep the product clean and to reuse, well that is a worry. The product comes in what looks like an autoclaved/sterilizer type sealed bag, so it looks as though it should have been properly prepared for usage and reading the label it’s been sterilized when you receive it, by UV/Gamma Sterilization. This is good to start with, however I repeat, I am wondering about repeated use as it has no instructions as to what you should do with more than one use. I also wonder about the fact that in the tattoo industry sterilized products that sat in their bags for anything over 6 months (this means unused & unopened), had to be sterilized all over again… so wouldn’t this product have an expiration date? Nope, I couldn’t see one on the bag nor the box. Okay so I still wonder about the product and with Lupus SLE…I don’t want to think about this.

skin secret derma roller in trayNow what is my worry about sterilization of this product? I worry about blood born pathogens, which could be transmitted using this product, DO NOT SHARE! Also I worry about air born pathogens like common cold and more, if the hands that come into contact with this have anything on them from touching doorknobs to your having someone else touch the handle or the needles etc you may make yourself sick… not to mention setting it down on an unclean surface in your bathroom for instance! I also have been worried about people doing this at home and going wild with it, you could damage perfectly healthy collagen and elastin as well as make your skin suddenly sensitive to your cosmetics and skin care treatments… even the stray hairspray mist or perfumes. And, of course the more little holes you put in your skin, I would think the higher the risk of getting any sort of infection.

My advice, if you really want to test one out, do so, but also remember the above precautions & please consider my concerns… oh and for heaven sakes please seek advice from your doctor or better yet a dermatologist before you try this on yourself.

skin secret derma roller in trayOkay so there you go a review of a product that I decided not to use after some research and talking to my former tattooist husband. I am sorry Skin Secret, but your Derma 540 is not my cup of tea and I have to be honest in my reviewing products, even if means that I leave negative information and warnings in my review.

100 dollar amazon gift card win it or 1 of 2 25 dollar gcNow a Great Giveaway for you all thanks to Skin Secret: This is for $100 Amazon gift card and 2 $25 gift cards. In addition, the blogger who brought in the $100 winner gets a $25 gift card! Please help me and enter here to win! Yay!
