We are Growing Plum Crazy here at our house, thanks to some tips and tricks I found online. The plum tree has been a sad story for the past 2 years, since we moved into this little house. Now it’s Growing Plum Crazy with Plums! Yay!
I found a tip that told me to hang old CD’s on the tree… birds are afraid of shiny things. Done.
Next I realized that I had to address the insects. I sprayed the tree down with a spray bottle of this Organic solution: 1 Tablespoon of Castile Soap to 1 Gallon of water, respraying for every day for a week, and then after heavy rain fall.
The results, the branches are so full of plums that I have to go to that tree and tie up the branches, they are almost to the ground!
Today I would like to introduce you to Non GMO Organic Cheese by Rumiano. These Organic Cheeses by Rumiano were the worlds ONLY certified Non GMO Cheese, until recently… Now they can proudly say that they were the worlds first! Cool huh? Not only that but these cheeses are also Kosher, American Humane Certified and Non GMO Verified. The cows that supply the milk for this cheese are grass fed all year round. No hormones or pesticides are used.
I was worried that a cheese like this could be difficult to find in my area, so off to do research I went. It is always helpful to look at a specific brands website and have a listing of stores near you that carry their products and Rumiano was no different. I was so happy to discover that my area Whole Foods Store carried their product.
Now it took me about 15 minutes in the store to find their product with all the other natural cheeses they had in store, it was a shame that they only carried 2 types of their cheese and that they only carried the 6 oz sliced cheese, not the bars of cheese that I prefer to get. So I picked up one of each type of cheese, Mild Cheddar and Monterey Jack Cheese. Now neither of these cheeses were the ones I was hoping for as I like my cheeses with a bit more of a bite and flavor to them, but I enjoyed them all the same. We still enjoyed them all the same, we had some on our sandwiches, and some melted on our hot dogs.
And the last slices of each cheese, I cut into smaller slices, to enjoy with friends on some crackers. Our friends loved both of the cheeses! I showed my girlfriend a package and told her about the fact that they were organic and the Worlds ONLY certified Non GMO Cheese. She was so impressed with this that I, unfortunately (for hubby and I), I felt that I HAD to give her my last coupon for a free package. *insert teary eyes here* I was hoping to use my last coupon for when I visited my parents again soon, as I’d pass through Boulder and SURELY Boulder, Colorado would have more people insisting on this brand of cheese in all of their many natural and health food stores! Ah well… that will teach me for being a good friend, right? lol
I would like to add that the cheese is thick sliced at 1 oz a slice, so there were 6 slices of cheese to a package in a 6 oz package. Hey but with thinner slices I would be placing more cheese on my sandwiches than I had to with their slices. 🙂
The Cheddar was extremely mild, and the same for the Monterey Jack, but a nice consistency on both of them. We especially liked the creamy texture of the Monterey Jack. I can’t say much other than it was nice to have good cheese in our house and to enjoy the thought of looking for more of their cheese in the future. I will check back in a month or so to see if our local Whole Foods decided to carry more, and we will keep a watchful eye out whenever we are nearby another store that should be carrying their cheeses to see if they have what we really want to try. 🙂
I looked at the back of my packages of Non GMO Cheese from Rumiano and their ingredients are simple and the same on both of the cheeses that I tried:
Ingredients: pasteurized organic milk, cheese cultures, sea salt and vegetable enzymes.
Being a cheese lover, I did turn around and write to Rumiano about the shortage of variety at my Whole Foods Store. Rumiano was so kind to contact me in return and ask me to go to their store locator page and submit their form to request they contact our store. I saw that link at first visit, but I thought it was just to request that a store pick up their cheese, good news, it can also notify them of a shortage of variety in a store like mine. 🙂 Here is what you do to try and either get their cheese into a store near you (if they aren’t showing up in the locator) or to request they carry a bigger variety… look just to the right of the area where you’d search for a store and there is link “Request Rumiano Cheese to contact your store”…. to do this have the name of the store, city and zip code, then fill in the area with your request.
I am very satisfied with Rumiano cheese and all they have to offer…now I want to see more from the stores locally, you’d think that with a company like Rumiano Cheese out there producing the worlds first certified Non GMO cheese, that the natural & health food stores would pounce on the products. My only disappointment was not with Rumiano it was with the store near me that didn’t supply more of the best of the best, that people would want to feed to their friends, family, children and grandchildren! Shame on places that don’t pounce on this excellent brand of cheese!
Thank you Rumiano for entrusting me with a review of your fine cheeses, I can’t wait to get my own personal letter out to local health and natural food stores about your product… I want to see more of you!

Hi friends, you perhaps remember how very much I adore Newmans Own Organics Chocolates and all the products I’ve tried so far from Newman’s Own Organics. Well this hasn’t changed and I am pleased as punch to invite you all to enter the Valentines Month Chocolates Giveaway, you could win a surprise assortment of chocolates from the fine folks at Newman’s Own Organics!
Don’t cry if your darling didn’t give you chocolates, if he/she did they probably wouldn’t be as nice as these chocolates anyway (and who says you need to share these? Well other than the little unknown contract you all have with me when you enter giveaways here, you HAVE to SHARE with ME! just kidding… lol, but it would be nice. 😛 )
Seriously though, you can find these Chocolates at the stores near you, I have seen these chocolates in the isle with chocolates and other candies at my local King Soopers. Believe it or not, the chocolates maybe in the same isle as other chocolates but, Newman’s Own Organics Chocolates sit in a special area, alone and across the way from all the other chocolates! Perhaps the “powers that be” at the store just happen to believe that these chocolates would cross breed with the others if they stood too close to them. After all, dare I say, these Chocolates are so rich and delicious that they are sexy, so who could blame the other chocolates for wishing to breed with them? 😛 lol
Our Valentines Day has started out early at our house, when a package arrived with some yummy Chocolates enclosed! Now I have to say that this package from Newmans Own Organics was just full of goodies for more reviews, that are yet to come… yummy Snack Attack, once again at my house. As you may recall hubby had some 4 stints placed recently so snacks are rare at my house, so I am limiting the reviews to a few related items at a time here. lol Gotta help him get his girlish figure back and mine too for that matter after my years on steroids for Lupus SLE. Anyway when the box of goodies arrived, I saw so many things that I almost threw out the chocolates, by mistake… the chocolates were sealed up in a foil bubble wrap, and for some silly reason, I thought it was an ice pack… because it felt so cold… really I didn’t know why an ice pack would be in there this time of year. lol As I was preparing to toss out the foil bubble wrap “ice pack” I felt it, wondering if I needed another ice pack for our chronic pain, I realized that it was tightly wrapped somethings and not an ice pack inside… to my delight I found my favorite guilty pleasure inside… Chocolate! And not just Chocolate, dark Chocolate and not just dark chocolate, but Newmans Own Organics Chocolate! OMG, I died and went to heaven just knowing what wonderful treats were in store for me and my dear hubby, just in time for Valentines Month.
Why do I keep saying Valentines Month? Why should we celebrate love just for one day? Why not a whole month, or for that matter the whole year around? 🙂 Well for the sake of the blog, we will celebrate Valentines Month! lol
Hubby doesn’t like to put his teeth in (long story, short he was in Vietnam and exposure to the chemicals seemed to cause his teeth to go bad from the inside out and putting in dentures is a pain in the rear for him and he’s far from vain) so he has had the pleasure of enjoying most of the wonderful filled cups… well, all but he had to share half of the raspberry filled ones with ME!!! OH no… lol they were too good to let him enjoy it on his own. The peanut butter ones were just as tempting, but I did only sample one, and gave him a taste of my chocolate orange bar, he had to suck on this delicious morsel as the dark chocolate is nice and solid.
Now, these chocolates are not like that cheap yucky chocolate that has a lot of junk added to it, nor does it taste like wax, like a certain popular chocolate from a Company beginning with an “H”. To me that “H” named companys chocolate tastes too light and too waxy, yup this foodie has become spoiled with these wonderful Newman’s Own Organics Chocolates! 🙂
And Oh My, you need to try these Dark Chocolates with Coffee, nothing compares! Remember these are organic. And my biggest recommendation for those of you buying Chocolate for Valentines Day, is the Raspberry Filled Cups, oowey gooey nummy num num! What can I say words escape me, all but Juicy Raspberry Goodness! 🙂 Don’t believe me? Take a look at the bite I took out of this lucious chocolate & raspberry taste of heaven on earth:
My next favorite Chocolate is the Espresso Dark Chocolate, the great taste and finely ground bits of espresso beans mixed in. OH YEAH! And the Mocha Dark Chocolate, yummy yummy… and the Orange Chocolate, the heavenly taste of fresh oranges and dark chocolate. Between these flavors, I cannot choose my second favorite, I love them all… each one has a special characteristic of it’s own. Even the dark chocolate peanut butter centers are great too, not anything like those others that are out there… the others are far too salty for me and though I loved them years ago, they turned me off peanut butter centers in those cups… that is until I tasted Newmans Own Organics version, darn and here I promised hubby he could enjoy all but one of them in the package. lol
Oh my, I just realized that I just called these all dark chocolate, the filled cups (both raspberry and the peanut butter) are actually Super Dark Chocolate at 70%! Dare I say, so very good for you, in limited amounts… my Mother for a while served us all one piece of Extra Dark Chocolate a day while I was visiting once, it’s good for the heart and satisfying to the taste buds, I actually prefer very dark chocolate more so then milk chocolate now! 🙂 Not to say that I don’t enjoy the occassional milk chocolate, but only the finest will do for me, as in Newman’s Own Organics Mocha Milk Chocolate… coffee and chocolate once again, in a sweet, creamy, melt in your mouth treat!
Speaking of treats let me say I have more reviews coming up with Newman’s Own Organics and the wonderful package full of goodies that they sent me… look forward to licorice, ginger snaps, pretzels and dried fruits! I have some great ideas, that I am developing my own recipes for the dried fruits (watch for it in the coming weeks).
I wish to send out Valentines Day hugs, love and thank you to the wonderfully generous people at Newman’s Own Organics for entrusting me with their wonderful products for reviews! And for helping me keep some sanity (well, what is left of my sanity) during some stress here… not only did these arrive in a very timely manner for Valentines Day, but perfect timing while my pain level has been up so high that I haven’t slept at all in a day and a half now! Really how could a girl live without Chocolate, especially when stressed and the chocolate really hits the spot when it’s Newman’s Own Organics Chocolate! Yay! Once again you folks have spoiled me, thank you so much! <3 and hugs… Happy Valentines Day and Happy Valentines Month to all you wonderful folks!

You probably know by now (or could easily guess) that my fur babies love it when I get a chance to review dog products on the blog. And this one is no different and their little tummies are very happy with the Newman’s Own Organics Premium Pet Food products that we were asked to review.
My two pups have picky tummies and they can be picky eaters too… we’ve found some dog foods that they will not touch and we had to give it away to neighbors, though we were half tempted to throw it away. We found others that they would eat and later throw up, and yet some others that upset their tummies and we’d end up cleaning the floors and butt fur repeatedly as a result of their eating those Dog Foods or Dog Treats. And I thought a sick man was needy (oh darling husband, you know I AM NOT talking about you. *wink*), ladies some of you know what I mean… but have a dog with a sick tummy (at least my 2 tiny dogs) and they want complete and uninterrupted attention, take your attention away from them for a moment and they are not happy with you and those pups get pushy, panicked and moan a lot in complaint.
It’s a balancing act when your pets have sensitive tummies like mine do. And the recent problems that arose with products coming in from China, I started to wonder, should I make homemade dog food? Being the careful skeptic that I am, I did massive amounts of research on homemade dog foods and after much copying and printing recipes, I found a glitch in the idea. I really shouldn’t make homemade dog foods, there seems to be a lot of science in creating the products that meet your dogs nutritional needs. There are specialty ingredients that you really must go out and purchase to add to a dogs food in order to properly balance the nutritional value of any homemade food, and still a lot of calculations to be met. Human foods do not meet our dogs nutritional needs. Not only that but in the end not only is it a lot more expensive, but, even though our dogs are worth it, it is after all a lot of work. I tell you what I decided to do, after all that research I found that not only do we have to worry about nutrition for our dogs but it is highly recommended to go with Organic products for the dogs. When your little fur babies are so precious to us, lets take care of their bodies by using only the best for them, so I’ve considered going organic for them for quite some time, though I had not taken the leap yet, not until trying Newman’s Own Organics.
I received a nice box of goodies for my boys and some coupons too, from Newman’s Own Organics.
I received :
2 Large Cans: Chicken & Brown Rice Formula and the other was Organic Beef
2 Small Cans: Turkey and Brown Rice Formula and the other in Turkey & Chicken Formula
A 1 ½ lbs Bag: Adult Dog formula, made with Organic Grains & Vegetables
2 resealable Bags of Dog treats: Premium Dog Treats in Size Small, Flavor Peanut Butter and the other is Snack Sticks for Dogs in Chicken & Rice Formula
We’ve fed our pups these perfect sized little hearts before from Newman’s Own Organics (the Premium Dog Treats, small in Peanut Butte Flavor), we found these to be one of the most perfect sized treats for our boys. These Peanut Butter Hearts, are just right for training treats as well as those random treats during the day, great for small dogs like mine. I love these for my dogs and they seem to enjoy them and always ask for more.
These little hearts are 1 inch wide, 1/4 inch thick.
The treat I have never picked up before, for my fur babies are the Snack Sticks for Dogs, in Chicken & Rice Recipe, these are long lean sticks about , easy to break up to split between my two dogs as they are not too hard. They love these too.
These little sticks are about 4 1/2 inches long.
I generally feed my 2 little boys dry dog food and use the moist dog foods for special occasions, part of the reason is their sensitive tummies and it’s hard to find moist dog food formulas that agree with their stomachs. I have found about a year back, that a friend sent me a care package with some of Newman’s Own Organics Moist Dog foods in it, she knew my dogs couldn’t stomach most moist dog foods and she had faith that the dog food she’s been feeding her boy and girl (Fur Kids of course, lol) would do the trick with my 2 boys. Sure enough, no upset tummies, no doggy accidents to clean up and 2 happy puppies, one of which even dances for this dinner! So cute!
And there was no problem with the usual progression from one dry dog food to another, if you don’t know usually you should gradually introduce new dog foods, to your dogs in progression, keep the old dog food and slowly increase the % of the new dog food in the mix to introduce the new food to your dog. I usually do this with the dry dog foods starting out at about 1/3 and increasing over 3 days to 100% of the new food, this helps to keep the dogs from getting an upset tummy from the new product. I didn’t do this with my 1 ½ lb bag of dry dog food from Newman’s Own Organics, having tried their soft foods on the dogs previously I had a feeling that they would have no problem digesting the dry food either and I was right. No problems for my two little boys at all switching straight to the new food, they love it and Tiny Dog dances for his dinner for this one as well as the soft foods they make.
I love the Newman’s Own Organics, both people food and the dog foods, they take good care of our little family with Organic ingredients and tummy friendly foods for my Fur Babies. Thank you Newman’s Own Organics for sharing your wonderful products with me and my happy little Fur Babies! You have won our hearts and our brand loyalty with your tasty original & organic recipes for all your fantastic products.
Not a problem with Newman’s Own Organics Dog Food and Treats, they not only joyfully eat the food but there have been no ill effects from eating it, and of course no clean up… happy me & happy pups!
