BH Cosmetics – Win Contour & Blush Palette and the 32 Color Lip Palette

Hi there folks, have you visited BH Cosmetics yet? Do you know all about them? Their makeup palettes are professional grade and high pigmented. I had not had any idea of where people were getting such lovely colors for their makeups in all the fun pictures online of creative faces. I finally found them while searching for highly pigmented eyeshadows once upon a time. Back then, around February or so, I was fortunate enough to “Like” them on Facebook and they ran a giveaway on there. I was fortunate enough to win and here I was about ready to order the very same palette from them that I won! 🙂 I love their eyeshadows and I was so lucky when they invited me to take a look at my choice of some of their products and possibly do a review and giveaway! My collection eventually will be complete with their products, the way my luck has been going and I find that so exciting. I just know that I need to order more products from them.

BH Cosmetics Contour and Blush Palette

I finally decided on what I wanted to try, the easy one was the Contour and Blush Palette that I had been eyeballing since Winter. The next choice to help round out my BH Cosmetics collection here was for the 32 Color Lip Palette. The products arrived in no time at all within a big box that had all the items cushioned well for shipping. I love the care that they take in shipping, with some companies out there you never know what condition your beauty products will be in when they arrive, for instance I just had a large order that I received from my favorite Beauty Supply place, that I had been going to since I first saw them while I was an instructor for professional Cosmetologists, Salon Manager and Stylist… this is the first time I decided to order from them through the mail and this will be the last time. Everything in that Beauty Supply Box was loose in the package with only a crumpled up piece of paper on top… and things leaked and boxes crushed etc. Like I said, I love the care that BH Cosmetics takes in packaging and shipping their products. 🙂

I immediately had to open the products, which are in the nice compact like cases, the cases are textured, unlike the glossy smooth case for the eyeshadows I have were in. On initial look, inside the cases, I was in love with all the lip colors, I then looked at the Contour and Blush Palette and wasn’t sure if these were the colors I would choose for myself. Upon looking out in the natural light I realize that the colors are neutral enough that they could work on me with my warm skin tone after all.

BH Cosmetics Lip Palette

I then put on the contour and blush playing around with contouring my short but square face, I could go on and on about face shapes and how to contour but lets face it, there are tons of online resources for this information as well as figuring out your face shape and the best ways to contour your face. Someday when I have more time, I may take the time to sit down and take you through all the steps and explain how to contour and other makeup hints and tips that I learned, but now is not the time. 🙂

The Contour and Blush Palette are a lot of fun to create different looks with, and though I wouldn’t have chosen these colors for myself in the past, I would choose them now and I think these colors are neutral enough to work on just about any complexion.  The contour goes on just right… lighter or darker as you choose and you may also conceal with the same palette…although I  don’t use it for that, I use the lighter colors to layer highlight. I first use one of the light colors and then on top of it I use a shimmer color on top in some areas to highlight more.

I don’t believe in totally changing the shape of your face with contour however, natural beauty is in all shapes and sizes, my friends… so if you are like me and and love to play with makeup, save this contouring for formal pictures and anytime you maybe on camera or at a formal affair, then just make it subtle and check it from all sides in the lighting like you will be seen in to make sure it looks good and is blended well.

I then played with the lip palette, at first using my finger, you see I couldn’t wait. Then I was a good girl and reached for my lip brush, I found some gorgeous colors in there, some of which I thought were too dark until I mixed several of the colors together. I really love one of the dark frosted bronze color (far right bottom) and because it’s a tad to dark on me I love mixing it with the other lighter colors.  The Lip Palette of the 32 lip colors also contains some lip glosses in it, but it mostly contains lipsticks in the palette.

Anyway I have had a great time with my Contour & Blush Palette as well as the 32 Color Lip Palette and I continue to play with them still. The packaging is quite nice, however I would have preferred that the lip colors and contour and blush were in the palette case like the eyeshadows were in. The eyeshadow case, was both easier for me to open and it is comparatively easy to clean if you get any makeup on them. I tried windex and even rubbing alcohol to get them clean for the pictures I took, but I couldn’t clean it off well at all. However, that is only a small inconvenience and I don’t believe I will be taking further pictures of the cases in the conceivable future. lol And I must say that the cases are still rather lovely.

I would like to thank BH Cosmetics for their letting me try their products, and like their eyeshadows, I wasn’t disappointed with the quality and quantity of the products. Thank you BH Cosmetics.

Now for the fun part, we have wonderful Giveaway here folks!

Sorry the Giveaway has Ended!

Good Luck to all our friends!

SpaRitual – Summer and Fall Nail Polish 2011 Collections

Written by: Riah
Summer 2011 Collection "Evolve" spa ritual

Hi there my friends, I’d like to show you a wonderful company that asked me to do a review for them, They are Spa Ritual. Wrote and offered to send me their New Summer 2011 Collection called “Evolve” and Their Fall 2011 Collection called “Wilde” to try out and do a review for your folks.
Spa Ritual’s Nail polishes are all formulated Vegan, Free of Dibutyl Phthalate(DBP), Formaldehyde and Toluene, these chemicals are called “The Big 3” there is a lot of debate over the issues and/or non issues of these chemicals in nail polishes. But I prefer to be safe, better safe then sorry. I will tell you that when I first became a Cosmetologist that we used Formaldehyde Tablets in our Drawers, so after all the scrubbing and chemical cleaning of our products we had what they called a dry sanitizer that we used in all our containers for everything in the Cosmetology industry. The powers that be had determined that the Formaldehyde we were using were a carcinogen, which means that it’s cancer causing.
I received my package in the mail with 12 beautiful bottles of nail polish in it, the first thing I noticed is the lovely “plum cap”, as they call it, it’s a nice rubberized like cap with ridges in it so that it’s non slip. As I pulled out the bottles I noticed the colors! These colors are fun I haven’t seen colors like this before in other lines.
The Summer Collection reminds me of the colors at the Beach, and the picture with their colors on their site and (seen just above) I believe that this is exactly what theme they had in mind for the Evolve Collection.
This is what these colors look like on me, I had colored my nails and realized that they had not sent me the full Summer “Evolve” Collection, the color twig was not included instead a color from their Imagine Collection called “Living in the Moment” was included and the Evolve “Twig” was not there:
Spa Rituals on Mariah's FingernailsSummer 2011 “Evolve Collection” Colors (except where noted), Left to Right: Pebble, Living in the Moment (Imagine Collection), Sacred Sands, Driftwood, Native Rock.
 Summer Collection 2011
Summer 2011 “Evolve Collection”, this color is the color “Moss”
The colors of the Summer Collection are pretty obvious by the pictures, I will tell you that the color “Living in the Moment” from the Imagine Collection and the color “Native Rock” from the Evolve Collection are pretty close in color in the bottle, when you put it on it’s obvious that the “Native Rock” is a shade or two paler with more of a Dusty Rose Gray (Gray with slight pink to it) background and  “Living in the Moment” is a tad Deeper with  a little bit more blue in the color.  The color Moss is a lovely sort of mint green.
Fall 2011 Collection “Wilde” Colors from Left to Right Top to bottom: Sacred Ground, Instinct, Howl. Second Row from top: Running With Wolves, Spirit Child. Bottom: Rhythm of Life
I’d like to introduce you to a sneak peek of their Fall Collection (Above) , this collection is made up of the names: Howl, Spirit Child, Instinct, Sacred Ground, Rhythm of Life, Running with Wolves…. suppose their theme is Indian/Native American? These colors are all Shimmers and lovely and deep and sexy! The pictures don’t do these justice, Instinct is Purple with Blueish Shimmer, Spirit Child is Red with Gold Shimmer, Running With Wolves is Bronze with Gold Shimmer, Rhythm of Life is a Kelly Green with a lighter Green Shimmer, Howl is a Dark Charcoal at night and in daylight more of a the Darkest of Dark Chocolates with a Bronze Shimmer. These Shimmers are all quite Metallic looking the Sacred Ground has larger specks in the shimmer so it shows readily in any light.
Here are some pictures taken of me wearing the Wilde Collection, excuse the lighting please, shortly after the two pictures above of me wearing the Evolve Collection the skies darkened up and our thunderstorms started up.

Fall 2011 Collection “Wilde” Color “Howl”
I really love these collections from SpaRituals, they are safe and quite resilient as before I’d taken these pictures I had been typing for quite a while. All in all I am very happy with the polishes, I even had a jar that was a little stuck and I must say that grip on the cap came in very handy on getting the polish open. 🙂

I’d like to thank SpaRitual for this chance to review all these polishes, they are so beautiful and so much fun to wear. Please Friends, check out SpaRituals, as I said in the beginning of this review, better safe then sorry and get a polish without “The Big 3” chemicals in them. SpaRitual can also be found on Twitter @SpaRitual and their Facebook link is:

EDIT (Noon Friday July 8, 2011):
I posted this review late last night, and it’s noon today & I’ve been typing and doing housework, even opened up a soda can… not a chip or sign of wear and tear on the nails at all! I have to tell you, it’s hard for companies to make a great Vegan Nail Polish without “The Big 3” chemicals in it successfully. I have to say that I’ve bought so many of the popular pro-grade polishes out there and this one is out shining them all! SpaRitual got their nail polish right!

So many beautiful people doing Makeup Tutorials…

Wow, it’s been a while since I sat down and watched several hours of makeup tutorials on You-tube, via my Tivo, but I did it again tonight. Now I remember my hesitation on doing the same. All of these women, big or small, black, white and everything in between are all so very young and so very beautiful! Not only could I not hold a candle to their beauty, but I am much older then they are, I don’t have any fancy makeup (and my collection is very small)…. not to mention that I don’t have a web cam or a video camera. lol Now I see why I don’t run out and buy one right away for my favorite “me time” activity… yes I still am that little girl inside that loves to play with makeup and play dress up, although now I hide to do it for the most part.

Well that is all I actually wanted to say in this early morning post, just a note, basically to remind myself why I am not on a video doing fun things… it’s because I would possibly never post them out of embarrassment. I mean, wow have you seen their collections… really have you? I am worried however on how these ladies are managing to keep up such an extensive collection and still manage to throw them out when the time on there cosmetics is up! Most of their makeup being gone ever 2 years… I doubt it!!!! Come on now gals!!! I am speaking to the pros and armatures alike, you really need to take a deep breath, and find what works for your personal collection and stick with as much as you can manage to give up in their allotted expiration time from open to spoiled and possibly bacteria laden. Don’t try to convince me that your Mom’s and Dad’s would be willing to replenish all that EVEN IF it were only every 2 years… lets face it mascaras, foundation, lipstick and glosses… they get replaced all the sooner then the 2 year mark. I will locate my chart on my desktop computer later and edit my post here to show the real time limits on opened makeup.

Am I jealous of what they have? HECK YA!! I am a former Cosmetologist and I love love love everything beauty, and would love to do nothing more then sit in front of a makeup mirror and play for months on end with everything, if I were given the chance. Now if only I could find a way to earn some extra coins online, then perhaps I would consider buying some of these expensive highly pigmented and gorgeous makeup, brushes and the omg so beautiful eyeshadows. We will see if my crafts or my paintings may someday sell and make this poor gal a few coins… then we will see. Until then rest assured that I will not be scaring off all of you and your children any time soon my imaginary viewers of the internet.

Good night… errrr Morning (yup sure enough after 2am) from this gal who is in enough pain that she cannot sleep, but who got a moments escape watching videos from the comfort of her high back loveseat (supportive for a bad/painful neck).

Luv, hugs -n- kisses

Beauty What Is It – Thoughts For The Day

Beauty what is it to me exactly? Beauty what is it? is it genetics? what makes one truly beautiful?

The Definition of beauty at,

Beauty and My Blogging:

Lets start with the Definition of beauty from the link above. On my blog I shall be concentrating on aesthetic beauty for the most part, with products and how too’s for anything Skin, Nails and Hair related. I am after all a Former Cosmetologist. I will also be talking about health, which surely can influence both aesthetic beauty as well as how we feel inside (which too influences your beauty).

But from time to time I will be posting about beauty from the inside as well, as this is the most beautiful and important asset that anyone could have. I find that when a persons personality is so very lovely, I cannot describe the person by looks… because it’s their very soul that shines a beautiful light.

You are not ugly because you are not a size 0 society is ugly

I find it disturbing that girls and women alike compare themselves to airbrushed models, who are an unhealthy and an unrealistic size zero. So lets work with what we have, and work on the beauty within since this is the beauty that truly lasts as we age.

Here is a quote from a true Beauty Audrey Hepburn:

“For attractive lips, speak words of kindness. For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people. For a slim figure, share your food wit
h the hungry. For beautiful hair, let a child run his/her fingers through it once a day. For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.”
