Nails for a Friend – Wordless Wednesday

These are some Nails for a friend, she mentioned on twitter navy blue nails for Mother of the (was it bride or groom?). lol I promised I would show her samples of my idea for her nails… well I am sure I wasn’t on time with all the problems we’ve had here, but I still wanted to post the nails. I bought all the supplies for these nails at Sally Beauty, the blue is from “Finger paints” and it’s called “Margritte’s Masterpiece” #806086. The silver stripes & rhinestones also can be found at Sally Beauty.

In December I signed up for Julep Maven Membership, I received my first box for free, I just paid for Shipping, which was just under $4.00! I was surprised at how fast I received my box and the full sized products contained in it… plus the surprise addition of a couple of samples to try.  The box contained so much that I was shocked, it must have contained about $60 worth of polishes, skin care and makeup.

One of the full sized products in my first box was called Blank Canvas (Mattifying Face Primer.) To tell you the truth, I worried about a Mattifying product being used on the dry areas of my combination skin. I honestly thought it was a bad choice to send to me, that is until I tried it! I couldn’t believe how my 50 year old skin got smoothed and how great my moisturizing Foundation when on so smoothly and stayed on for once, instead of soaking into my skin or accumulating in the wrinkles! I think that Blank Canvas Primer is a, wonderful product and it’s not just for those with Oily or Normal skin, it works on my combination skin… even my dry skin handles it well too! Nice to try something that I would have never even considered buying before, I love it when there is a pleasant surprise like this was!

The Kajal eye pencil that I received is call Kajal Eye Glider and it is correctly named. This two sided pencil (brown and black) goes on so smoothly it doesn’t pull at the eye. And being that it’s a Kajal it’s perfect for the waterline!

I also received Rock Star Hand Creme, this hand creme applied after washing hands, a bath or shower, really moisturizes and locked in the moisture. I love how it makes my hands look too, it makes those small wrinkles smooth out… I highly recommend applying it, like any  moisturizer to still slightly damp skin so the moisture and plumping from the water is locked in.

So that this post loads quicker, with all the large clickable pictures I have for this review, I have split this post into several pages. To see more CLICK HERE go to the next page. 🙂

SpaRitual – Summer and Fall Nail Polish 2011 Collections

Written by: Riah
Summer 2011 Collection "Evolve" spa ritual

Hi there my friends, I’d like to show you a wonderful company that asked me to do a review for them, They are Spa Ritual. Wrote and offered to send me their New Summer 2011 Collection called “Evolve” and Their Fall 2011 Collection called “Wilde” to try out and do a review for your folks.
Spa Ritual’s Nail polishes are all formulated Vegan, Free of Dibutyl Phthalate(DBP), Formaldehyde and Toluene, these chemicals are called “The Big 3” there is a lot of debate over the issues and/or non issues of these chemicals in nail polishes. But I prefer to be safe, better safe then sorry. I will tell you that when I first became a Cosmetologist that we used Formaldehyde Tablets in our Drawers, so after all the scrubbing and chemical cleaning of our products we had what they called a dry sanitizer that we used in all our containers for everything in the Cosmetology industry. The powers that be had determined that the Formaldehyde we were using were a carcinogen, which means that it’s cancer causing.
I received my package in the mail with 12 beautiful bottles of nail polish in it, the first thing I noticed is the lovely “plum cap”, as they call it, it’s a nice rubberized like cap with ridges in it so that it’s non slip. As I pulled out the bottles I noticed the colors! These colors are fun I haven’t seen colors like this before in other lines.
The Summer Collection reminds me of the colors at the Beach, and the picture with their colors on their site and (seen just above) I believe that this is exactly what theme they had in mind for the Evolve Collection.
This is what these colors look like on me, I had colored my nails and realized that they had not sent me the full Summer “Evolve” Collection, the color twig was not included instead a color from their Imagine Collection called “Living in the Moment” was included and the Evolve “Twig” was not there:
Spa Rituals on Mariah's FingernailsSummer 2011 “Evolve Collection” Colors (except where noted), Left to Right: Pebble, Living in the Moment (Imagine Collection), Sacred Sands, Driftwood, Native Rock.
 Summer Collection 2011
Summer 2011 “Evolve Collection”, this color is the color “Moss”
The colors of the Summer Collection are pretty obvious by the pictures, I will tell you that the color “Living in the Moment” from the Imagine Collection and the color “Native Rock” from the Evolve Collection are pretty close in color in the bottle, when you put it on it’s obvious that the “Native Rock” is a shade or two paler with more of a Dusty Rose Gray (Gray with slight pink to it) background and  “Living in the Moment” is a tad Deeper with  a little bit more blue in the color.  The color Moss is a lovely sort of mint green.
Fall 2011 Collection “Wilde” Colors from Left to Right Top to bottom: Sacred Ground, Instinct, Howl. Second Row from top: Running With Wolves, Spirit Child. Bottom: Rhythm of Life
I’d like to introduce you to a sneak peek of their Fall Collection (Above) , this collection is made up of the names: Howl, Spirit Child, Instinct, Sacred Ground, Rhythm of Life, Running with Wolves…. suppose their theme is Indian/Native American? These colors are all Shimmers and lovely and deep and sexy! The pictures don’t do these justice, Instinct is Purple with Blueish Shimmer, Spirit Child is Red with Gold Shimmer, Running With Wolves is Bronze with Gold Shimmer, Rhythm of Life is a Kelly Green with a lighter Green Shimmer, Howl is a Dark Charcoal at night and in daylight more of a the Darkest of Dark Chocolates with a Bronze Shimmer. These Shimmers are all quite Metallic looking the Sacred Ground has larger specks in the shimmer so it shows readily in any light.
Here are some pictures taken of me wearing the Wilde Collection, excuse the lighting please, shortly after the two pictures above of me wearing the Evolve Collection the skies darkened up and our thunderstorms started up.

Howl nail polish from Spa Ritual's Fall 2011 Collection
Fall 2011 Collection “Wilde” Color “Howl”
I really love these collections from SpaRituals, they are safe and quite resilient as before I’d taken these pictures I had been typing for quite a while. All in all I am very happy with the polishes, I even had a jar that was a little stuck and I must say that grip on the cap came in very handy on getting the polish open. 🙂

I’d like to thank SpaRitual for this chance to review all these polishes, they are so beautiful and so much fun to wear. Please Friends, check out SpaRituals, as I said in the beginning of this review, better safe then sorry and get a polish without “The Big 3” chemicals in them. SpaRitual can also be found on Twitter @SpaRitual and their Facebook link is:

EDIT (Noon Friday July 8, 2011):
I posted this review late last night, and it’s noon today & I’ve been typing and doing housework, even opened up a soda can… not a chip or sign of wear and tear on the nails at all! I have to tell you, it’s hard for companies to make a great Vegan Nail Polish without “The Big 3” chemicals in it successfully. I have to say that I’ve bought so many of the popular pro-grade polishes out there and this one is out shining them all! SpaRitual got their nail polish right!
