Easy Video Creation with Muvee Reveal – Review

Hi all, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Muvee Reveal 11, a program to make help you make videos. I was fortunate enough to be one of the bloggers chosen for this review and I have to tell you, it made making videos so easy!

This program has everything, I put together a few collages using Gimp (a free photoshop like program) and polished up a few old pictures. I played with Muvee a while and decided to add some old video footage of the dogs.

I can’t help myself sometimes and I just MUST grab the nearest camera and take videos of my dogs… you may say that I am easily entertained, but I do think that they are the cutest dogs in the whole wide world! Lol Just like a proud Mother, huh? I am in the habit of saying that I wish my eyes had a built in camera in them to capture those moments that come and go so quickly.

muvee reveal program pictureLuckily most of us have several means for taking those precious videos and pictures close at hand with technology today. The problem has been getting those great pictures and videos together to form an entertaining video to share with others. Lets face it, with YouTube out there, we’ve all seen some very put together videos and we wouldn’t be entertained by just any video anymore.

I am picky when it comes to putting anything together to post online, and I have, in the past spent days and hours to put together my videos for my blog. The program Muvee Reveal 11 has made my work so much easier for me, and I can say that it is honestly worth the money, because of the ease of use and professional results you get in no time at all.

Muvee has so many features in it that I couldn’t possibly tell you about all of them… I am sure that I haven’t done anything but touch the surface of this programs capabilities. I know that I have yet to play with the voice-over feature and I only cut one old video down on it.

movee reveal picture of some settingsThe features that I have used to make my little movie, that I can recall off the top of my head:

Captions for on your video clips or pictures

Inserting Text before certain pictures

Choosing the Theme

Choosing the Music (either choose from what comes with the program or your own music)

Turning down the Music

Enhancing  the sound on your video clip

Editing one of the 4 little videos in the mix

Sorting my pictures and videos

Playing with the font for Captions, Title etc

Added Graffiti (tons to choose from)

Choosing where to upload my video (I chose youtube of course)

muvee reveal another settingAnd that is just to name a few of the options that I chose, I am currently waiting for my video to upload to youtube as I write this. 🙂 I could save this in HD Format, but that would take hours and with my internet sometimes acting up I decided to go with the lowest resolution so it will take only a few minutes to upload.

And Here it is! Check out my new video:

All I can say about this program is, the more I played with it yesterday the more creative I found I could be in making my video look truly professional and attractive. And the more I play with this the more I discovered about the program. If you get lost playing with Muvee Reveal, they not only have tutorials online, but they have a forum where you can easily search to find answers to your questions and if you don’t find an answer, then just ask your own question in the forum or with their Live Chat too!

I am excited that I have Muvee Reveal, as I have more review projects coming up soon that could use a video. Click here to get your own copy of Muvee Reveal and start making those pictures and or videos stand out from the crowd.

Webcam Spying – Protection – Review & Giveaway

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.
Webcam Spying has been the topic of many News Stories for some time now.

I hear all the news stories out lately about those that have had their online cameras (webcams) hacked, pretty frightening stuff!

What resulted in my being so concerned about Webcam Spying? Yes the news stories weren’t enough… BUT suddenly I HAD to turn our gaming console webcam away from the main part of the living room. As a matter of fact, I have the consoles webcam looking at the back of a DVD, right now. lol  Why? Well about a year ago the webcam indicator light kept turning on and I noticed it while the console wasn’t being used. Nothing like fearing that just because you bought the extra accessory for your gaming console you could be being spied upon. Especially if you are sitting rather un-lady like in a dress watching the old boob tube! Problem solved easily, the only problem is that now I don’t want to bring up any of the games that I could use on the console because I need to take care of setting it up “just right” so the finicky camera can see me again.

Previous to the above experiences, I had heard the news stories about spying through webcams. And yet, until that happened several times on the gaming consoles camera, I never worried about our privacy here. Hey it always happens to other people, not to you right? WRONG! So what to do? band-aid over the webcam on the laptops? Nope don’t want the gooey adhesive to ruin the lens, nor to need to try and place a new one over the lens in just the right place.

Okay so thinking about gooey mess, how about a good ol’ sticky note? So I proceeded to place a clumsy old sticky note over the webcam… but it no matter how I folded it it obstructed my screen and it flapped with the rooms fan running. I finally gave up and just closed the lid every time, even when I was in the middle of working on my laptop… oh yes sometimes forgetting to save a draft of all the work I had done and a few times I even lost information (my hard drive was going bad). So back on with the sticky note, until now.

I received an offer about a month ago to review a Webcam Safety Cover, called the C-Slide Webcam Cover, you know I JUMPED at the chance to have one of my own! The C-Slide comes in Black, Silver and White, I chose black.

webcam safety C Slide blackThis is what their review offer had to say about the product:

C-SLIDE Webcam Cover 1.0 is a patented design that works with all laptops, computers, monitors, Smart TV’s, PS4, Xbox Kinect, and some External Web cameras.
Product Features:

  • Super Thin: 1mm thick so laptops are able to shut with ease
    Length: 1.5”
    Height: .5”
    Applications: double sided tape
Durable : made from high-grade plastic
Won’t Scratch: designed to open and close without harming the camera lensAlso available at the following stores: C-SLIDE, eBay, Amazon, Open Sky, and Etsy

cardboard that the c slide came onI proceeded to look at the envelope that I received from the company and wondered if the Cover was intact, sure enough, though the pictures of this looked rather small, I wasn’t sure what I was expecting. lol Sure enough it was intact in that envelope and simple to apply, just peel off the backing to the two little strips of tape (like double stick tape) and apply! Now, I do have fingernails so it may not be as easy for some to peel those tiny little slivers of tape backing off, but it was simple enough for me to do.

Now the true tests of this product come into play

Does my laptop close and do what it is supposed to do when I close the cover? Yes.

Does it slide open and closed easily so that you can use your webcam when you want and close it to get rid of spying eyes? Yes.

How does it hold up opening and closing frequently? It does well, those tiny little thin pieces of adhesive tape are holding up!

What do I think? I think I need to pick up some more, for our cell phones as well as hubby’s laptop, that’s what I think! This little thing is great for my piece of mind… especially knowing that the hacks out there don’t even turn on your little LED indicator, as some would think that they do.

You can purchase this at the places listed above or at their store! And they even sell a multi pack to protect your family from webcam spying too! Or catch all your devices? How many of us only have one device with a camera on it that hooks up to the internet after all? And with you purchase, if you don’t simply love the C-Slide? It’s 100% Satisfaction Guarantee: If you are unhappy with your purchase they will send you another unit or for a full REFUND!

Now is your chance to win one for yourself or a loved one.

Hi all… thank you for your patience! -News

Hi all, thank you for your patience! It’s been trying times here, as some of you know I spent time up at Mom and Dad’s house, helping out. In a past post I wrote about my Mother becoming a Paraplegic just over a year ago, she’s paralyzed from the diaphragm down.

My Mother at home in bed with teddy bear
My Mother (Nancy) at home while I was there helping out. She held the Teddy Bear and I HAD to grab my camera.

My Father had surgery removing a benign lump, that he’s had for years and yet kept growing, from between his shoulder blades. When the surgeon was removing the lump Dad heart a LOT of snipping as they removed all the roots, some of which obviously were attached to muscle so obviously he couldn’t really lift Mom up.

The day after my Fathers surgery, my Mother got very very sick with a high fever and we took her to the ER, where they treated her for contagious infections (we had to gown up and glove up to be in with her) and for pneumonia. (It was so difficult not being able to pat Mom’s hand and face with my bare hands, as well as kiss her). We spent our days in her hospital room visiting, so I couldn’t get online with my laptop.

My Father is now healed up. Mom is home now and no longer on 5 different Antibiotics, she’s now on several, really super strong, antibiotics (some for the hospital borne infection that is Antibiotic resistant, so it doesn’t go away ever instead they can calm it with strong antibiotics) all IV antibiotics. Thankfully Mom has a port so it’s easier to use the IV’s at home and since it’s hard to get a good vein for IV’s.

Me personally, I wondered around walking on a, as the specialist/surgeon said, “A very angry Achilles Tendon. And I’ve been just dealing with the pain, until 2 weeks ago. Two weeks ago I went to the Surgeon and she placed me in a walking cast, and tomorrow I go in to be checked again to see what does or doesn’t need to be done, looks like I will need physical therapy eventually. So my pain level has been way way up, with nerve pain acting up from walking funny, as well as the tendonitis in my hands and my upper neck (where the skull attaches to my neck)… as well as, of course, my lower back sciatica going down into my hips, legs and feet. Lets top that all off with Spring like rains flaring up the arthritis & my other ankle being in pain as a result of, again, walking funny.

As if all this isn’t enough, Comcast has been acting up with the DNS Connectivity to the Internet for weeks and my blog going down temporarily whenever I post. All of which I’ve been trying to solve ever since I returned home from my parents house.

Want to top it all off? Well, being that my husband and I are on Disability, we’ve had to cut out a lot of things from our budget as we pay for all our specialists, and so on… we just cannot afford much and are maxing out the credit cards as we cannot afford our medications and the specialists and still eat. So we’ve had to do without to try and survive and keep our roof over our heads, so with all this going on I admit, I have been about at wits end with so many worries, things that need to get done and things that need me to repair them. There is never enough time in the day!

Oh and of course, with the spring like weather, my husband had his heart act up from mowing the lawn, so he had to, for the first time, use his little tablets for his heart (how about that, the name escapes me, too much on my mind and getting old too). So I took over the lawn work (yeah, I am stubborn in pain) and got the lawn seeded, etc… hurting myself even more.

I could go on and on. Basically it’s been so many things going on here that I have not been able to get online, and when I could my DNS Connections have been acting up and the internet connections were only available to my laptop for a few minutes at a time. And because of this DNS problem, I have not been able to fix the unavailability of the blog for a few minutes after my posting a new post.

Thank you for your patience friends, believe me, I am still alive and kicking and so is my blog! 🙂 I am just struggling right now.

Love and hugs,

Mariah

Internet Explorer Security Alert – News

New internet security warning, this one is an Internet Explorer Security Alert.

Yup, now after the Heartbleed Security Risks were widespread, there is news that Internet Explorer has had a problem going back MORE THAN A DECADE! Thanks to the folks who found this vulnerability (at the research firm at FireEye), we at least know about this problem… this problem is so terrible that no matter what Windows version you are using, it won’t prevent the hackers from utilizing this and uploading a Virus to your system.

News Boy with animated words "EXTRA"There is a warning out in the US and UK that you should STOP USING INTERNET EXPLORER until this browser bug is repaired!

The good news is that there are other browsers out there, personally I use Firefox from Mozilla. Unfortunately some sites I cannot use there forms etc with Firefox, luckily it’s few and far between, so for those few sites I will start using Chrome.

To keep up to date on all this information about hacks, viruses etc,  I subscribe (and not affiliated, nor are they sponsoring this post) to Newsletters from ZDNet, Kim Komando, and several other trust worthy sites. Kim Komando is handy for all this sort of information and she’s highly informative about tips and tricks for using your computer, etc. She even has a wonderful radio show and some other newsletters to subscribe to.

Here is the ZDNet story about this serious security risk to users of Microsoft IE: CLICK HERE

Here is where you can find updates on the Internet Explorer Problem as well as more information on Kim Komando’s site: CLICK HERE

Again, this is just my favorite sites, and I am not in anyway being compensated for this post, other than perhaps helping some of you out by sharing this news with you on my review blog.
