SureFlap,The Cat Door for your Microchipped Cat – Review & Coupon Code

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Mom Blog Society Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

Cat coming in through white Sure Flap Cat Door

Hi there friends, I really got lucky this time as I got to play with/test out The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap/Cat Door. What a cool concept this pet door memorizes your Cat(s) Microchip(s), just make sure the microchip was placed in the neck area of your kitty. Once the SureFlap Memorizes the pets microchip it opens with ease for your pet and only your pet (or pets).

I received the package in the mail in great condition, the only complaint I had was that the package that contained the screws was too thin a plastic and I found a screw jumping out at me as soon as I opened the package. Luckily all the screws were found and the box was complete with everything you or I would need in the box, except for the handy person with their tools to put it in, luckily for me I have one of those poor suckers (errrrmmm ummm, I mean “my sweet husband”) here for my very own, use… you will have to supply or find your own! I did read the instructions though and they seem quite complete and not hard to understand, nor to install.

How the Cat Door Microchip Operates shows a cat the door how it unlocks in response

Although I played with my small dogs, one of whom has a microchip and the other that does not and took the flap through its paces, I had a special someone in mind when my husband sounded a little resistant to putting in the flap for our pets. We will be getting my older dog a microchip soon too, however wishing to choose my battles, I will just need to slowly wear that poor man down, and in the mean time I have a special someone in mind who I think will go nuts over this as a gift. Honestly though I have two little dogs that love to go inside and outside all day long and it about drives me nuts, luckily they are dogs and I call and about 50% of the time they both come running… or they will come to the door and bark loudly to get my attention. Now if it were my old cat, I’d be luck that he’d ever come when I called, so otherwise he’d never get my attention while he was stuck outside… that’s why in Apartments we never let our Cats outside, if we could help it. lol

The door worked as planned with my dogs, one of my dachshunds’ who is a mixed breed has a microchip the flap did work for, although I think he’s still mad at me for playing with the door with him. And you thought cats could give you a look? You should have seen the looks that the youngest dog was giving me, I think it maybe a while before I make up for my giggling and trying to get him to step through the little flap doorway.

And of course he is not the only dog upset at me, the older dog, being the peace-loving pure bred little gentleman that he is, wanted to show the young dog what it was all about and couldn’t quite understand why the flap didn’t co-operate for him. Oh yes, I giggled even harder and longer now as my husband told my old dog (who’s always been my best buddy) not to worry, that “Daddy” still loves him (indicating that Mommy was mean and didn’t love him anymore… oh my husband loves to tease me).

Tears hit my eyes as I reflect upon the fun time playing with this door. It will be a while before anyone in this house forgives me, but hey, maybe I can get more work done online now? Oh okay, my darling husband and the old dog have forgiven me… the young dog, well he’s nuts (just like my husband is) anyway and loves me no matter what, but a girl can dream about some peace and quiet, can’t she? Ah well… the best laid plans…

I have to say that the sure flap is sure impressive and they thought of things I never thought of with a pet door, I never thought that they could only to let them out or only let them in, I just figured they were always open both ways or, of course, being that I am not as dumb as I look, I knew that there had to be a way to lock the pet doors so they’d go neither in or out.

No need to plug in the sureflap

I do have to say that the batteries appear to be very easily accessed once the door would be mounted, so no concern there… other then if you hear your pets head hitting the door hard and find them on your floor shaking their head back and forth fast as those tiny little cartoon stars go around their heads. lol Just kidding… the batteries typically last 6 months of normal use and there is a flashing indicator that will flash at you to let you know it’s running low on battery power.

No need to plug in the sureflap

I would recommend the SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap for anyone that is looking for a way of keeping any pests out except for their own little furry cat friends. I talked to one of my brothers about this product on the phone and he told me he had to install something just like this for his cats, because mice and raccoons where getting in through the old cat door and eating the cats food in the barn. It’s sure nice to know that, if anyone is reading this, they won’t get this sort of surprise in their house, garage or barn if they seek out this product as it sure can save you some problems.

So What’s that New Bar Code type thingy on your blog?

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, I hope I don’t bore you silly. 🙂
Today I added a QR Code to my Blog so that it can be easily accessed via smart phones, I found the instructions here: http://www.walkernews.net/2010/02/28/how-to-add-qr-code-in-blogger-or-blogspot/.
Sample QR Code
What is a QR Code? The QR Code is a little strange black and white square with the squigglys,(see my sample picture above). Some sites online (and even some store bought products) are using this so you can easily visit their websites without typing in a long URL.

How to use this QR Code:

   1. First, you need a smart phone with Internet access.
  2. Next you will need an application to read the code. I just bought a Samsung Vibrant (Currently a BOGO at T-Mobile, what a fantastic deal on these smart phones by the way) and I downloaded a “bar code” reading app, that works for Android based phones. The one I grabbed is called “BarcodeS” , it was free in the “Marketplace” (probably T-Mobile Marketplace) and it not only reads bar codes (and checks online for best prices) but it reads QR Codes as well.  There are many more applications, I am sure that will read this, I just named the one from personal experience. ANYHOW (now you see why I have a Blog called Riah Rambles)
  3. And finally all you need to do is use your Application by aiming your camera at the QR Code… wait a moment as it reads it and Wolla, you should be able to go to the very page you were viewing on your Computer or in a pamphlet or on packaging etc… Nice and easy huh? Yup it’s that easy!

Now I must go onto my other Blogs to add the html code in for the QR Codes…wish me luck, it’s a painful day and I am a bit distracted with my terrible pain level right now. (ok so I cheated, after adding this first to my blog “The Beauty Bloggery” I’ve copied, pasted and changed just a little bit… hey, what can I say? I am not as stupid as I look, even distracted with my terrible pain level. So I think I did good… so do I get a cookie or a gold star? Pretty please?)

<3, hugs and kisses!

Good Afternoon!
