Homemade Halloween Face Paint – Healthy Skin and Eye Popping Color

How to make homemade Halloween Face Paint that is Healthy for your Skin and yet has the boldest colors.

I am thinking about my Halloween Costume and Makeup as we proceed into the month of October.  Every Costume needs the face to go with it, forget the mask and create your own one of a kind look to go with your costume! Here, with the help from some friends and their generous permission to share their pictures, I will show you some ideas and how to make your own bold and beautiful face paint.

Store bought face paint not only tends to have diluted colors but they contain a ton of additives that are actually bad for your skin and shouldn’t be used again next year.

For those who are frugal minded, like me, there is more use than with store bought face paint. This is a mixture of products that women use every day (men and teens don’t miss out either with the Refresh), … so no waste! And the pigments can be put away for next year too!

I am super impressed with products by Younique, here is why:

This is why I love Younique Products

I am now an Independent Presenter for Younique and I some friends with Younique have shared their creations using the Pigments and Refreshed together to create face paint. Yes, you can use this professional grade intense Pigments and Refresh to create your own custom facepaint, not only will the colors be more intense than those bought at the store, but it is healthier for your skin than those store bought face paint.  You can also mix your pigments to create your own variations of color and let your artistic creations really pop!

My friend Debbie and her before and after, using Homemade Face Paint (the products used were all from Younique)

Here my friend Alesia, used the homemade mixture for healthy, vibrant face paint on her daughter, using the pigments and refreshed and the lashes were extended to super long with 3D Fiber lash!Halloween Face Paint Bold Pigment Healthy Skin 1

For the glamorous look, don’t forget to make those eyes pop too with the 3D Fiber Lash Mascara, it’s a wonderful 2 mascara tube kit that will make you forget about fussing with false eye lashes. And for those of you with oily eyelids, like mine, you won’t have to worry about them falling off or needing to carry the lash glue around with you and chance at it leaking in your purse, pocket or *cough cough COUGH* cleavage *cough* and have it leak and make a yucky sticky mess all over everything.

Here is another look from my friend Debbie, she also used Younique products to make her homemade Face Paint:

So there you go friends, some fun ideas for making your own face paint using Younique products! The pigments are highly pigmented so those colors are sure to pop, and mixing it with Refresh? Well there are a lot of great benefits to using Refresh here are some:

Disclaimer: I am NO LONGER an Independent Presenter for Younique. I had a death in my family and as a result I didn’t sell enough products to keep my position… wish I knew that would happen if a family emergency came up! 🙁

Got The Creative Bug – Classes and Workshops – Review

I have the Creative Bug lately and I had an invitation to try out a Month of Creativebug Classes and Workshops for a review. What wonderful timing as my stress has been maximized as of late, and any number of fun DIY Crafting Projects can distract me. Now I was a latecomer to the Month of classes, just reviewing about 4 or 5 class videos today and accomplishing one craft project today. But wow, what a well needed break for the creativity that seems to be lacking in my life lately. After all crafting is second nature to me since I was raised on all sorts of DIY Craft projects in my creative family, my parents are artists and they kept us 6 kids pretty busy with crafting and DIY projects.
Creative Video Workshops on Creativebug.com
The classes that I looked at were for a “found necklace,” basically an upcycling project with beads from jewelry, friends will know that I love to collect old jewelry and beads. Family knows that I have done this since I was a little girl, but I have to say that I learned a few new things such as what to do with the tail from the filament you tie to the clasps.

I also looked at a really cool project for Image Transfers too. I have my packing tape set aside here as I am going to immerse myself in one of the 3 methods of Image Transfers she shows us how to do in her video. I can’t wait to find the perfect colored magazine page to use for this one! Yay!

I glimpsed at the bracelet crocheted with beads, cool… however I don’t have the cord that it called for in materials and my embroidery floss is MIA at this time, hiding in the deepest darkest recesses of some poor neglected moving box at this time.

Finally for my first project I was extremely inspired to dig out my Shrinky Dink Printable “paper”, and play with it for the first time in about 5 years. Oh, I don’t think it counts that this past Winter I just used Shrinky Dinks for making luggage tags for my trip to Florida to see my friend Joan, I really didn’t play with it, it was just something I figured I needed spur of the moment, then night before leaving. lol

What Shrinky Dinks at my age? Yes I love that stuff! I knew exactly what I was aiming for, and I had just the perfect picture to make into an outline in the picture/photo editor program. It was about an hour and suddenly I remembered how to get a good outline out of my colored picture, I used to do this for the Tattooists in the Tattoo Shop my husband and his partner had owned for a few years. Nice to know I haven’t forgotten all those old skills and it came in handy again. lol

In the Shrinky Dink Jewelry Class, I did learn some unique hints and tips from the video and it helped out so much better than the instructions that came with the Shrinky Dinks. I won’t spoil it for you, you will need to join Creative Bug to learn for yourself.Honestly Mariah Shrinky Dink Jewelry

My problem with my printer/copier is that it only prints in black… So I had to spend many hours with my detailed design to have it ready for the oven. And when the design curled up and folded itself it seems that the lovely Victorian Lady in the middle turned into The Freak Show Bearded Lady as the pencil marks or the ink smeared just perfectly on her face, before the Shrinky Dink flattened out again. lol

But all in all, this does look quite pretty, don’t you think? Now I have to decide it the original idea of putting two holes in it for jump-rings is what I want or to attach it to a Barrette Blank (or make it into a brooch) … oh and then figure out who would love a bearded lady piece of jewelry. lol Oh and I added to my design an outline around it some gold leafing permanent ink from a pen to further enhance the design.
All A La Carte Classes $9.99
So much fun, a project that is normally thought of as only for children, was revisited by me once again. Five years ago, I did have fun making Christmas gifts for everyone, it was about time I revisited this old favorite for fun once more.

CreativeBug’s offering are such a wide variety, from beginning sewing to advanced knitting and kids crafts too! Creativebug has a class to inspire your creative side. And the classes can be purchases A La Carte or as part of a Subscription… Subscriptions would make great gifts, for the crafter in your life. Better yet, make homemade gifts from these classes and workshops, these gifts are the best gifts, as they come from your own hands and your own heart!

Thank you to CreativeBug for helping me find a way to relax and have so much fun I lose track of time! What a stress relief for me.

Now, who wants to buy a Victorian Freak Show Bearded Lady piece of jewelry? It’s ONE OF A KIND (that’s for sure!). I will finish it (or you can) and I will sign the back of it too. Do I hear $25.00? Hey, can you blame a girl for asking? lol

These Aprons make a great Mothers Day Gift, as well as gifts for anyone else who cooks, bakes or grills.

Let me introduce you to my Favorite Company for Aprons, “Flirty Aprons”… I received a Flirty Apron as a gift, I was told ahead of time what to expect shipped to me from the person that sent it (since it was going to be late for my birthday). I was so very excited! I have fallen in love with some of their Aprons and have shared the links with Friends and Family, it seems that so many love these Aprons, even the guys, the aprons for the men are made of very sturdy material and have wonderfully funny sayings on them… I love the one that says “I Turn Grills On”.

So you don’t have to wait to find the link and the coupon code, I am placing it here (and again near end of this post):  40% Off + Free Domestic Shipping (First Class & Priority)  This offer is Good through 05/05/13. Easy Coupon Code (just Copy and Paste this upon checkout) MOMSDEAL40

A great Mothers Day Gift Idea. This is a Beautiful Apron with an Oriental Flare in Cherry Blossoms. The colors are in Black and Red with white background, from flirty aprons on sale now to save 40% off with the coupon code

Well the person that sent me my Apron, evidently had her own favorite and it really didn’t match favorites at all. I sighed with disappointment after all the build up of expectations… that is until I tried this Apron on and looked in the Mirror! My heart was lifted as I was hoping for a totally cute pattern on the apron and in cheery colors, not black. Why did my heart lift? It looks so adorable that even as a more understated less vibrant or cutesy in color and fabric pattern that I’d choose for myself, this apron was still very striking and flattering! As a matter of fact everyone that has seen my apron loves it and they gasp at the beauty of it when I put it on, asking repeatedly what place they can purchase from.

I have had to write down the website link for all my family and friends before they left my home… when I play hostess I get distracted but before they would leave, I would get my hug and either a request that I write down the place to purchase these or a card shoved in my pocket with a reminder on it to email them the information and share with them any sales I find. lol In other words I may forget that they want the information, but they are sure to remind me before they leave. 🙂 The requests come from all sorts of people from young women to older women (one a Great Grandma) and all shapes and sizes, yes I must be a good sales person for these Aprons since I often show too how very very long the tie around the waist is on these Aprons, even a very big friend of mine (from the apartments I lived in before I moved) is well over 300 lbs and she could easily wear these aprons.

Mothers Day Gift Idea. This is the Women's Brown polkadot and pale blue apron.

Needless to say I am in love with the Women’s Aprons from this company. They are so cute and each design is so unique that you are sure to find an Apron for any taste and any age.

These Are Not only Great Gifts for Mothers Day, stock up for others while you can really save.

Do like I do and start up your own “Gift Box”

I am up to several Gift Boxes Now. I label each item for whom I had in mind for the gift and I have a miscellaneous box with gifts for surprises or special occasions (from New Mothers & their babies, House Warming gifts, to Hostess Gifts). You could also start your secret gift stash for your sweetie and children too… nothing wrong with getting something that locks (they have those foot lockers for college students that you can lock) and stashing gifts in there for those people living with you! *wink*

Flirty Aprons carry cute bibs for the babies as well as Aprons for the whole family! And that’s not all, they have wonderful looking oven mitts and the cutest gloves for washing dishes (& housework) too! Think of that Gal in your life that gets manicures and loves to have beautiful nails, help her keep them by adding in a lovely oven mitt and rubber gloves to go with that apron. Caution Guys don’t you DARE give her just the rubber cleaning gloves, she’s bound to get quite upset… instead get her instead a whole set, oven mitts, gloves and an apron, this will make the gift extra special!

Update on My Mother & St Patricks Day Get together.

Closeup of Mom on St Pats Day 2013 in Longmont life care center
My Mother in her wheelchair and her huge brace… being a real good sport as she wears goofy St Pats Day Glasses.

Hi all, I know I have received requests for updates on my Mother, this weekend on St. Patrick’s Day we had a get together at the Longmont Care Facility where she is going through Rehabilitation. They are trying to teach her to scoot out of her chair and into bed and working with physical therapy there for her new condition (being a paraplegic). She is worried they will kick her out of there before she is ready and she is so weak she’s having problems with the ramp like thing that can help her get in and out of bed into her wheelchair.

Other than that her mood seems good, although she complained about some physical therapist that I think was really worried about her spirits possibly being masked and being at a lower point then she likes to show. At least that is my thoughts, since she said they asked her about a 4 letter word and I am not sure if they asked if it was to be about her or her condition or what… but she said she replied “cr_p” (you can fill in the blank) and then she told me she was only joking but then she got told something negative about her mood or her mental state as a result.

And of course she complains about how hard physical therapy is on her, but then again who doesn’t? lol

Otherwise, Mom was fun, funny, full of stories and loving having the family around her. She went along with my sister placing a big shamrock “tattoo” on her cheek and later with putting on goofy glasses for St. Pats Day. Mom really enjoyed the dinner and especially the soda bread with dinner.

The full picture that my sister took of Mom being a sport, that is my father in the St Pats Day hat.

I have to admit that before dinner we had a nice little visit with Mom, at about the time in which I was trying to figure out how to get this low hospital like bed to sit up for her some nurses showed up and kicked us out of the room to help change Mom etc. It wasn’t until this time that, as one of my brothers said, I “sprung a leak”. I stood at first with just my husband and I in the hall and I broke down… my brother, who I think went with his wife and children to go look at the fish somewhere else in the building, came up and I welled up again, just as I thought I got myself under control. Swollen eyes and stopped crying after a great big hug, I then asked for hugs from my 3 adorable nieces and nephews.

I looked up from these hugs and there was my brother, that Mom told me to expect to arrive for one day on Monday from Vermont… oh my heart swelled with joy to see him, as I gave him a big hug and kiss! A few minutes later my sister from New York appeared… what warmth surrounded me as I then threw my arms around her too.

Far Left is me,the rest from left to right my brother, my sister, standing over my nephew and than my niece… as this side of the table watch my nephew as he dove face first into his piece of cake to eat the icing. St. Pats Day at the Rehab Center with Mom and Family

All in all we had a great time together and a great Irish dinner of corned beef, cabbage, red potatoes, carrots, soda bread and it was followed up by a nice St. Pats Day decorated cake. Unfortunately we cut the visit short as I tried to sneak in 2 pain pills and my husband Rick noticed and said we should go home. I explained that I’ve been fighting a terrible new for the past 3 days and by afternoon and evening I am pretty much bed ridden with such pain I cannot do much. Luckily today is a bit better as my meds are controlling the neck pain and the migraines a little bit better, though I am ready to go lay down soon.

Please friends keep the well wishes coming in for support for my whole family, my Mother and me too… I’ve been grieving some here for my Mother and all she is going through and for her being so weak at 71 pounds. I wish so much that I had the health, wealth and strength that I could use at this time to really help out a lot with everything that this new disability will bring… I want to give my Mother some hope for her future and not feel like she cannot find great times, fun and still do much with being a paraplegic.

Disclaimer: Unfortunately I knew I forgot something when we left for Longmont to see Mom, and it was my camera. The pictures in here were from facebook, from my Sister and Sister-in-law.
