(Reminder, this is from the old blog: Joan and Mariah’s Reviews, hench references to Joan that you will see on my New blog “Honestly Mariah”)
Sorry for any inconvenience to people waiting on prize winners, however as of earlier this month, Joan is running the drawings for just her winners and I am drawing for just mine. This way we don’t worry about not getting the winners information in a timely manner to the companies… because one of us Co-Owners doing the drawings would have to forward all the winners to whomever did the giveaway post and then they would submit to the companies for the prizes. Basically we’ve cut out one step in the middle to make sure the prizes get out to the winners in the most timely manner possible.
Thank you for understanding the delay, Joan has been sick since I’ve known her and it’s been getting consistently worse, part of the reason she asked me to join her with the blogging adventure 2 years ago. Joan knows I understand being sick as I am disabled (and sick) as well, so we make a great team.
Anyhow Joan has been behind on many of her reviews for months now and even logging onto the computer to run the rafflecopter winners is a strain on her. Please continue your patience as Joan will try to get what she can get done, when she can manage it.
Watch to, in the future for some possible news of changes on the way on the blog, as Joan has some decisions to make as she deals not only with health issues but issues at home as well… there may be some changes on the way in the new year.
Hi there folks, here we go again, a lovely giveaway for you all, and back by popular demand… 2 people will win a $50 Tango Gift Card!
I was tickled pink when my friend Joan (from my former blog “Joan And Mariah’s Reviews”) let me know she got me this same review that she had done a while back. I recalled that it was very popular with our readers and I am very excited to be able to offer 2 people a great $50 Gift Card to help them with their online shopping, be it for themselves or for Christmas Gifts.
I saw how this works first hand, you take your gift and choose which place you wish to use it for, I was personally torn between Target and Amazon. I Finally went with Amazon and then I got to choose who to send this too via email, and I chose myself I’ve longed for some things online and it was between good Professional Shampoo and Conditioner (I’ve tried non pro shampoo and conditioner for the past 2 years, due to a very limited budget and so far they all make me break out) or some good popcorn oil and popcorn salt to make my popcorn maker make the flavor of popcorn like the maker looks like it should make. Okay, well, I can get get the Shampoo & Conditioner perhaps in the near future as I have some haircuts to do (once my shoulder heals enough) and will have a few tips to add up together to do this.
Some of you that follow me on Facebook & Twitter may recall my posting my Birthday gift from 3 years ago, a cute popcorn machine that looks like the kind you find at a concession stand. The problem is you need to have the right ingredients to make the popcorn taste as yummy as the popcorn you buy at the concession stand… well I had researched it a long time ago and added the oil and salt to my wish list and placed in it the bulk packages for the oil so I don’t have to worry about ordering in a long time, since I haven’t seen any of these products to order locally. Okay after back and forth debating in my head, I finally chose Amazon for the popcorn ingredients that I need to make my popcorn popper really great! lol
I went to Amazon, took the email I sent myself from Tango and entered the code in it for the Amazon Gift Card. Lovely it worked, and with the Super Saver deal at Amazon I was able to get free shipping (although it takes longer) on my items. Tango made it so easy and I must admit when I saw I could divide up the $50 gift card from Tango, I was tempted to divide it up and save myself shipping some Christmas gifts this year and just have Tango email the chosen gift card to people on my list. However since I was done with a majority of the Christmas Shopping for this year, I decided it was time to get something I wanted for 3 years now. 🙂
I am pleased as punch with Tango and how easy it was to work with them and the have a great variety of Gift Cards to choose from. And the cards online give you a huge variety of choices to choose from, or just order Tango Cards as gifts too!
I think that Tango with the online gift card is the best way to go (with the price of shipping right now,) for gift giving over the miles this holiday season… just send out the gift card via email to those on your list this year. Please, just make sure to send the gift card recipient a personal email first to notify him or her of the email they will get with a gift card in it… so they don’t delete the email thinking it’s a spam or a site with a virus or something trying to get them to log in!

Yes friends, it’s the time of the year again where we experience sore throat colds coughs and so it’s the time of year to be thinking about your throat.
I received an invitation from Pine Brothers to try their Softish Throat Drops. As soon as I saw the drops I instantly recognize them as something from the past. I didn’t recognize the packaging however, so I think it was long ago that I had these, probably given them by my mother or a friend. I suppose that part of their name came from the fact that these are not quite chewing throat drops, but they are softish in texture but not a gummy texture and possibly because the way they soften the sore throat too.
For my review, I received 2 flavors of these throat drops, Natural Honey and Wild Cherry Flavored. I love both of them and hope that I can find some of them that are in limited quantities this Holiday Season, what flavor would that be you ask? Why Licorice of course! Yum, I bet those will be the ones to gather up all you can and hoard.
Time for a word from the CEO of Pine Brothers
It’s hard to believe that this was first introduced 140 years ago, the product seems so modern in it’s ingredients, and all natural product… nice! Below is a part of what I read on their website:
“Mr. Pine, a former German confectionery maker, determined that by combining the soothing natural qualities of glycerin with the healing properties of gum acacia, he could sooth and mitigate the mild discomfort of a sore throat. Add in some natural flavoring and a sweetener and voila, Pine Brothers Softish Throat Drops were born…”
After reading this little snippet (above) I realized I had done some reading a while back on some homeopathic sites about gum acacia (AKA: Gum Arabic) so I will share with you what I gleaned from the sites. Gum Acacia had been used in Ancient Egypt as a lozenge to relieve pain and . And has been shown to have healing properties and has been used throughout the ages, even so safe and beneficial that they say in times of famine people have lived off from just gum acacia and water.
I also have to make note of why else to use throat drops like these, if you have dry mouth… many medicines, Lupus SLE and Sjögren’s syndrome (I have experienced all of these), to name a few, are causes of dry mouth. In my humble opinion these drops are your best bet in helping you out with dry mouth and they don’t taste nasty like the toothpaste, mouthwash and mouth-moisturizer gels out there. And as a former Cosmetologist, I know that Glycerin is a natural Humectant, attracting and retaining moisture to and in the skin, so why not the mouth too?
Here is why I feel that they would be your best bet to fight dry mouth, the Softish Throat Drops not only taste great, they are not too sweet, the Gum Acacia (the homeopathic sites say) helps keep you from building up plaque and keep down the bacteria in the mouth that can lead to periodontal problems. And if you’ve had bad dry mouth before and seen a dentist, like I had while experiencing it badly, they will tell you that dry mouth can lead to terrible problems with your teeth and gums, like gingivitis and periodontal disease. So if you suffer from dry mouth like I do, now you know my new weapon! 🙂
I will not bore you with too much information on Pine Bros Softish Throat Drops, since not too long ago Joan wrote all about it’s history and it can be viewed in her review or on the Pine Bro website.
I have to say a big thank you to Pine Bros and Joan for asking them to send some my way, after I had read Joan’s review and talked to her on the phone I had told Joan that I wished I had a CVS Pharmacy near me so that I could try them out for myself and see if I too remembered them. Little did I know how very many other places carry the Pine Bros Throat Drops… I saw on their site that there are several places near me and I will be there soon to look for my licorice, if you live in Colorado and your store is out of the Licorice you can blame me for clearing out there shelves, if these taste anything like the 2 I’ve tried you don’t have any hope of finding some for yourself!
Thank you Pine Bros and Joan for recommending me for a review of their product… I am in LOVE and no other lozenge or throat drop shall pass these lips… well maybe if I was stranded on a desert island and all I had was something else, but how would that happen since I will be carrying only these?

Before I get going on this post, I want to let you know that as I was finishing up my post, I saw something on Dragon NaturallySpeaking Facebook page & I felt that I just had to share this with you: TODAY ONLY (11/29/12) Dragon Home Home Edition is on Sale for today only at 50% off! here is the linkand while you are thinking of getting this, consider that it comes now with a free gift of Family Tree Maker Genealogy Software and a free headset! Look for the “Home Holiday Bundle” on their website. :)The sale is not on the version I am working with, but it hits all the basics…the sale is on the Home Edition. I am using the Premium Edition which adds on Social Media Features and more.
Have you heard of Dragon NaturallySpeaking, the software that has voice recognition and will type for you? Let me tell you some about my history with it as well as my newest version that I have received for a review.
Hi folks, back in the 90’s (about 1996) I was given a gift by 2 online friends that I love to chat with online. My friends Keith and Sharron sent me Dragon NaturallySpeaking (version 2 I believe) when the problems with my Neck (resulting in terrible pain in my shoulders, arms and hands as well as my neck) got best of me. I began spending a lot less time online chatting with my friends as a result. Since Sharron’s son Michael has a terrible disability himself, Keith and Sharron knew of a great solution for me, they knew that my disability had already cut into my social life with the chronic pain and not everyone understanding it so well (people can start to disappear in your life as a result of a disability and worse yet having several invisible illnesses didn’t make it easier for people to understand)… my online friends sent me a wonderful gift in the mail one day and it was Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
When I received Dragon NatuallySpeaking, back then, it was a new product and speech to text was a new technology, but I have to say it was still a big help as I continuously trained the program. I loved the program so much and it was such a huge help. Since getting back to being online more and more once again, I really have missed my Dragon and needless to say my injury to my neck that causes the nerve pain going down my shoulders, arms and hands hasn’t gotten better, nor has the chronic pain gotten any better over the years, as a matter of fact it’s gotten worse. I admit it, it has been difficult to work on the blog and think through my reviews and giveaways as my dyslexia also gets harder to control when my pain level is up.
I contacted Nuance the makers of Dragon NaturallySpeaking and asked them if they would be interested in a review from me, since I had previously used their product when it had first come out. I was tickled pink when they wrote back and said that they wanted to send me a demo copy! Yay Nuance you are truly my hero’s, thank you thank you! 🙂
You have choices with Dragon Naturally Speaking, from the basic Home Edition, Premium Edition and Dragon Dictate for Mac. I will be talking about the Premium Edition in my review.
I received my Dragon shipped to my house in great condition, I received version 12 Premium Edition of dragon, it now even includes a headset complete with your microphone. Then I noticed that it now has a tutorial, I don’t recall Dragon having that in the past. but lets face it it’s been years since I last had Dragon.
The install was easy, I went with the full install, I just didn’t feel like messing with the program typical settings by using the advanced settings for it to adjust it to my liking, as I usually do with programs. Hey and anyway I can tell you this way about what the full install works like, perhaps later I will adjust what programs I have installed.
When you finished installing, expect to register, validate your program and account with Nuance. Then it will take some time, but you have all the help you could want to create your Profile for Dragon. The software will check out your audio devices, microphone etc…
Did you know that you can not only use your microphone to speak to Dragon, but you can also use an external recording device send the recording to your computer and use that to have Dragon Transcribe for you? Well, it’s not recommended in the beginning… remember Dragon does need you to use it via the microphone as you and Dragon both learn together… but wow, how cool is that?
Later on you will begin Training your Dragon (hmmm sounds rather like a movie I once saw… lol … yes some of us old people that are young at heart still like children’s movies!). In this step you can pick one of the texts to read, I decided to start off with the top most one, the easiest and I went back to this later, training it with more. Oh and I was tempted to do the teenage reading on the very bottom it was a fantasy text… that is more like me. lol I will get to that one eventually.
The program then uses your documents and emails to check for your usual writing style and add names from contacts too! I changed some of my documents on my computer to txt files for Dragon to read since I am using Open office and Thunderbird (open source free programs) currently there are some limitations on what Dragon will use for your writing style, but it does recognize these programs when you go to dictate to them which was a wonderful surprise. 🙂
Oh and speaking of surprises… I forgot to tell you something… and I bet you were wondering about this as you’ve been reading my review. I am currently using Dragon to post this review and I have to say it’s really nice that it has tools for use with the most popular browsers out there… in Firefox (the browser that I use) a nice little area with common commands comes up, like a cheat sheet. A little dictation box comes up for use and then when you are done (I do this in increments as a habit … do you know SASO? (SASO means Save And Save Often and is a great tip for when you are using a new program or you worry about losing your work).
The biggest problem with using Dragon? Is ME! I am not used to dictation yet, so I admit as I learn to think in this new way, I am sometimes going in and correcting a lot by voice. I do have faith that this old dog here (me) can indeed learn new tricks.. after all my 11 year old fur kid (Mr. Peanut my dachshund) can, so why can’t I? Since you can correct via voice it does save on the arms and hands, however I get frustrated with myself and cheat using my keyboard and mouse instead at times… yes you can do that too. But I will tell you the more you use the voice dictation the easier it gets and you are cheating when you do this by hand and as the saying goes for test cheaters, the only one you are cheating is yourself… and this is so very true when you are trying to learn Dragon.
I love how well Dragon recognizes my voice, how easy it is to work with… I tell you if you tried it years ago at the birth of voice recognition in the 90’s you will be so surprised at the wonderful advancements made in the program. Dragon continues to grow and develop into a very user friendly program and I was so very surprised at the advances Nuance made in the development of the program, the product was perfect on first use right out of the box… simply amazing!
I love the way this program has helped me I hurt myself years and years ago and I am currently in a chronic flare that has been going on for a month, I made the pain in my neck, shoulders arms and hands worse by trying to paint walls for a review recently, and then as it was starting to settle down I over did it with my preparations for a lovely Thanksgiving Dinner with my parents visiting Rick and I. I should know better but I am a Taurus and I get stubborn when I get my mind set on something. What Dragon is allowing me to do today? I am sitting here with a sling on my one arm and ice on my shoulders right now… I flared up the other shoulder by over compensating for the one in pain. Anyway I can sit back, relax, let myself heal some and still get my work done!
OH yes and guess what? 50% off Home Edition with Gifts Today only 11/29/12 (I am so glad I spotted this on their facebook page today so I could share it with you),$49.99 for Dragon, what a bargain especially since it also comes with special gifts of the Family Tree Maker Geneology Software and a microphone headset! You can find the link at the top of this post. So if you have wanted one for yourself or know someone that would/could use this now is the time to order. I have to wait for my husband to get home and see if he wants a copy for his computer since he’s now blogging too and has been watching me use mine and sounded tempted to get one of his very own.

Hi there folks, you may remember that a month or so ago I reviewed part of the Anti-Aging line by the folks as NeoStrata, it was called Exuviance Peel CA10. That product helped out my skin, especially lightening up some dark spots on my skin and helped my pores appear smaller.
I was contacted once again by the folks at NeoStrata for their Exuviance Line, as they introduced their newest addition to the anti-aging line their Targeted Filler. And you know this former Cosmetologist, I jump at the chance to try something new for my skin and since I had such a great experience with the first product, I was excited to try the new one.
Below is a video from NBC’s New York Live from a Segment “At Home Beauty Treatments to make you look younger”:
The Targeted Filler T5 was recently mentioned in Family Circle and American Spa.
Family Circle’s October 2012 issue:
“Turn Back Time Exuviance Targeted Filler T5’s pen-like applicator lets you target deep expression lines”
American Spa, September 2012:
“For all skin types, Exuviance’s Targeted Filler T5 helps build skin’s natural volume and smoothes Laugh lines, forehead creases, and other signs of aging. This filler contains a triple-boost formula that helps stimulate collagen and provides visible results in 8 weeks.”
The Targeted Filler, is contained in a tube with a plunger and a rubber tip on the other end, made to look like an syringe like you would have used on you if you paid a fortune for a cosmetic filler (AKA: a Dermal Filler) done.
Below is a closeup of the rubber application tip:
Similarly The Targeted Filler is made to help with those areas that you would have a Dermal Filler for. An example are nasal labial folds around your mouth. Also the product can help soften the lines from areas that the wrinkles would be softened by use of botox, such as the area between the brows or the forehead.
I was glad to have been offered to try this product because I noticed that the area between my brows was looking very wrinkled, when about a month or so ago when I did a video review for another product. I had done several takes on my review and while going through the takes to find the best one for the review, I noticed in one that those wrinkles were starting to really show up. In my past, not only did I love to act, but my face is very expressive (a wrinkle causation), and I had abused my skin with bad sun habits in my younger years. Add all these things together along with Chronic Pain and you have the perfect recipe for some serious lines.
My Before Picture, taken from that video taped review that I mentioned:
I have used the NeoStrata Exuviance Targeted Filler for about a month now. I have to say that the product is slightly thicker then I first thought, since I had seen it in the tube with the syringe look to it I imagined I would have a lot of control over how much I get out of the tube at once when depressing the plunger. For the longest time while using it I’ve gotten more out then I intended to. Now I have figured out what works for me is a bit of a quick tapping of the plunger and then I can get less out all at once. Granted part of the problem is with my hands and arms as they are weak with some injuries so I was unaware that I was squeezing hard, since anything with squeezing seems hard to me. lol
Although the recommended usage time to really see the results is 8 weeks, here (below) are my results after only 4 weeks of using Exuviance Targeted Filler T5… I think you will agree with me that 4 weeks has made a noticeable difference in those lines (never mind the fact that I didn’t neaten up my brows for this picture though… lol):
I broke out with the first few uses of the product, I tend to be sensitive to some products due in part to the Lupus SLE and the sensitive skin it can cause. But with a couple of days rest between those first few applications, I found my skin adjusting well to the product.
The results? I have noticed that the lines are less noticeable than they were before, even more obvious to me now as I took a picture and can see the difference! I am impressed! Why these results? The ingredients in the product help to stimulate your own collagen and build your own skins volume below your wrinkles. This, just like all skin surface applications of products, the results will not be as dramatic as if you went to have a procedure done in-office, but it’s easy and painless, less expensive and of course less evasive.
Exuviance Targeted Filler contains a ingredient called CitraFill™ and the other 2 ingredients that make up this “triple boost” formula are NeoGlucosamine® and Matrixyl® Peptides.. together these three help with the collagen stimulation. And with the help of the applicator you can target the areas that you need to see the improvement in. The only problem with the applicator, for me, is that thickness of the lotion as it comes out thicker then the lines I was trying to target, so I am getting the product on the surrounding skin as well, however one would still get the product on surrounding tissues when you go to lightly rub it in anyway, so no big deal at all.
Do I like what the Exuviance Targeted Filler T5 has done for me? Oh yes, it helps to soften the lines, making them less noticeable. And when you are sick with an autoimmune illness, like I am with Lupus SLE, you don’t want the evasive treatments that you would have done with an in office procedure… who wants to risk making themselves worse by adding something more to their bodies that would possibly make your illnesses worse or activate an illness that has been in remission?
In conclusion nothing is going to do as much as an in office procedure for those wrinkles, but why pay the price for in office procedures and risk to your health when you can buy Exuviance Targeted Filler T5 instead. With the Targeted Filler you can soften those lines and feel better about your appearance without an appointment, without pain, without healing time either. And for me the convenience of using the product at home was well worth it… and I even saw results in half their recommended time (I saw results in just 4 weeks).
Thank you NeoStrata for yet another wonderful product for review! I love your Exuviance Line!
