Crazy Critters – The No Mess Toy for Dogs Review & Giveaway

Hi there folks, I was lucky enough to be invited to run a review of a crazy critter for my dogs and I would like to share with you my experience.

Crazy Critters the No Stuffing Dog Toy

Some background information: Dachshunds are generally sweet dogs, but mine is vicious with the treatment of his toys. Its only minutes before the stuffing is all over my house and the squeaker is well chewed. It seems to me that my dog goes for the heart of the toy (the noise maker). My Dachshund seems to actually be “killing” his toys all the time now and quicker then he used to, he was an only “child” until we rescued a puppy from a shelter a year back… It makes me think that he is not only greedy and hasn’t learned to share, but that he destroys the toys so fast as he wants to keep it away from his little “brother.” Yes my dogs are my Fur Kids. lol

Our rescue dog, “Tiny”… isn’t he a cutie?

When the crazy critter first arrived I took a look at it and the first thing I thought was how flat the toy was and I feared that the dogs will share this tearing it up so very fast. I understood that the toy was without the usual stuffing, which is the first thing I see, within minutes, out of every toy we pick up for the dogs. I suppose I never imagined how the toy without stuffing would look and feel.

I worry about the dogs chewing on the stuffing from the toys, the older dog likes to usually get to the squeaker and after a good chew he’d  then just for fun tearing the stuffing out. But the puppy, he not only tears out the stuffing, but he loves to chew on it…it’s dangerous to let him get away with that.So I was glad to know that the Crazy Critters are stuffing free.

I am also thankful that the toy is stuffing free, it will give the brushes on my vacuum cleaner a break. Ok, so it will give me a break as I will not need to clean the vacuum cleaner brushes of the dog toy stuffing. I will also tell you there is nothing like getting the remnants of the stuffing in the brushes and not noticing until you smell rubber and the belt to the brushes break… yes when you’ve had dog toys with stuffing around the house, you must not do what I’ve done in the past… wear your MP3 player listening to music while vacuuming, because you will miss the noise change in the vacuum cleaner

Next I noted the fact that I can actually feel the two squeakers in the toy and that is something I always looked for in the store, as I had noted that if I could feel the squeaker through the material it seemed that the older dog would go after the squeaker quickly as he must feel it in his mouth as easily as I could feel it with my fingers.

I presented the dogs with the toy, I noticed that it was surprisingly resilient to their tug-o-war with each other. After the tug-o-war was done I realized that toy is long enough that that they could both be at separate ends of the toy sharing it, that is until the older dog grabs it hard and curls the toy up under his face to hog it to himself.

Left is "Tiny" dog and to the Right is "Mr Peanut" playing tug o war with thier crazy critter
Tiny (on the left) and Mr Peanut on the Right… crazy critter in between as they play tug-o-war

When it came to tearing up the toy, it took a much longer time then usual for them to do, I believe that the lack of stuffing in the toy made it harder to get a good grip on the “skin” of the toy to tear at it. Other toys, the stuffed ones, would only last a few minutes at most with my dogs, even those made of some really tough material (I think it was fire hose material or some such) got teared up by my little dogs… this one lasted a whole day!

With this toy the squeakers were taken out, but thankfully, that was all I had to pick up from their vicious attacks on the toy. lol And today they still play with it… and the fun tug-o-wars still continue days later.

My conclusion, after a few weeks with this crazy critter in the house, I will be buying more of these, when the older dog (my long haired Dachshund) tears into this there will still be plenty of material left for their daily morning and evening tug-o-wars and there will not be stuffing all over my house. Yay, a solution for picking  up stuffing all the time and for saving my vacuum from remaining remnants of the stuffing clogging the brushes and I am also thankful that I will not be spending time tearing out the stuffing fragments from the vacuum cleaner brushes and I will not need to replace the belt on the vacuum cleaner as often as I have had to do in the past.

I highly recommend these Crazy Critters for Dog toys, especially if your dogs are as hard on toys as mine are. 🙂
