Hi there everyone, just in time for those New Years Resolutions, I want to introduce you all to Zevia, the Natural Diet Soda Sweetened with Stevia! I was lucky enough to be invited to try out some Zevia for a review and giveaway! Yay!
I have to honestly say, I was very curious about this soda when I had seen it advertised this past Summer and I was interested in trying this soda to see if it lived up to the great things I had heard some people say about it online. So I was very happy when I was invited
recently to try out the soda.
Let me give you some background information on Stevia. Below is quoted from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stevia)
“The species Stevia rebaudiana, commonly known as sweetleaf, sweet leaf, sugarleaf, or simply stevia, is widely grown for its sweet leaves. As a sweetener and sugar substitute, stevia’s taste has a slower onset and longer duration than that of sugar, although some of its extracts may have a bitter or licorice-like aftertasteat high concentrations.
With its steviol glycoside extracts having up to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, stevia has garnered attention with the rise in demand for low-carbohydrate, low-sugar food alternatives. Because stevia has a negligible effect on blood glucose, it is attractive as a natural sweetener to people on carbohydrate-controlled diets.”

Being the kind of person that has been on diets almost all of my life, with years on steroids for Lupus SLE, which can (and to me it did) cause you to gain a great deal of weight. I’ve read everything I can get my hands on about the natural ways to keep weight off, to diet, and of course it didn’t hurt to hear that Stevia was 300 times sweeter than Sugar. Well my at home experience with Stevia, 10 years ago, was not that good… however I still had high hopes for Stevia.
I received a 6 pack of the Mountain Zevia, I admit I made a face when I saw what flavor I received as I would have picked any other flavor but this one to sample. With the thoughts of my ex, and his Mountain “D” Sodas that he craved, dancing in my head, I placed a few cans in my refrigerator. I must admit that it took about a week or more before I tried one of the sodas and I was pleasantly surprised with the taste, it pretty good… although I don’t care for anything even close to that Mountain “D” product.
I have to admit that I still have 2 cans of this 6 pack left, but it’s not Zevia’s fault, it’s the memories attached to the Mountain flavor sodas. What can I say? The sweetness is good and it tastes refreshing with that sweetener in it, so I approve of Zevia and will gladly pick up some other flavor for myself when I can get to the natural food stores. I really hope that my local grocery store too will pick up on the Zevia as a great alternative to the artificial sweeteners they sell for diet soda.
Now folks we can do better than that for you, how about a winner receives a coupon for a free 6 pack of Zevia, this way you can choose your flavor? Ok, ok, it’s not my idea, it’s from the wonderful folks at Zevia… Yay! ๐
I wish to thank Zevia for their kindness in sending my a 6 pack of their soda’s to try out, I know it’s not cheap to send something so heavy through the mail. Besides I didn’t think of requesting on flavor or another, and that is my fault, not yours Zevia… and low and behold you still managed to sell me on your soda sweetened with Stevia… I will be buying some at my local health food store soon! The sweetness wasn’t bitter like it was when I tried stevia sweetener packets a long time ago, I may try stevia again sometime soon!
OH And Folks, 2 more things before you go, drink you Zevia nice and cold in the can, it’s best very cold and drank right up! And Secondly… this Giveaway is US ONLY please… Thank you. ๐
(((hugs))) and Happy Holidays,
